What I did right this weekend..... and my confession and a lofty goal

Friday we ordered out lunch at work. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich w spinach and skipped half the bread.
Saturday I had a planning committee meeting for a women's retreat at 10am. I got up early, got my two miles in on the treadmill, showered, ate a protein bar and went to the meeting.
On the way home, I stopped by the grocery store and bought 4 packages of fresh strawberries, a pineapple, some blackberries, a small watermelon and some blueberries. Went home, cleaned and cut the fruit. Put the watermelon in one container and the rest in another.
Then packed to go to Ann Arbor for a meeting the following day, and a gathering including a taco bar the night before.
I grabbed some deli turkey and a piece of cheese, rolled it up and ate it along with my apple in the car on my drive to Ann Arbor.
Went to the gathering, had one taco, a handful of tortilla chips (about 8), and a coke zero. Left and went back to the hotel and got in the pool, followed by the hot tub.
Within my calorie count, got 12,389 steps in AND ate my apple. woohoo!
Sunday got up early and used the treadmill at the hotel. Got in two miles before showering and heading to the meeting.
Usually the bust out boxes of donuts for breakfast. I put my bowls of fruit on the table, filled one, and sat down with my fruit. I can't tell you the number of people who were glad to see fruit there! yippee!
After a long meeting, got in my car at 4pm and began the drive home. About 35 minutes into the drive, I started to feel tired. I stopped at a gas station and bought a coke zero. Are you ready?
AND a bag of twizzlers. We are not talking the little individual serving thing - but the bigger bag with several servings. I read the label. 160 calories = 4 pieces. OK - I can do that - I didn't have lunch. I can have 8 pieces. So I did. AND then I had 8 more.
Really? There were a zillion other choices I could have made - but I chose the Twizzlers. Even a cheeseburger at McDonald's would have been a better choice.
Oh well, let it go. Got home, unpacked, mowed my back yard, grilled a small steak & some veggies.
I did a lot of right things - some that I am really proud of - like getting on that hotel treadmill in my workout clothes! I'm not gonna let those silly twizzlers throw me. I'm on a path here and I'm NOT going on a side adventure like I did in April. Not today!
so I am doing this virtual walk..... to Phoenix. I just entered the State of Illinois. I have about 250 miles to the other side of the Missouri boarder. I would love to be there by the fourth of July - so I am going to try to WALK 7.5-8 miles each day. That is a lot of walkin for this girl - but I think I can do it!!! I will need to get in two miles every morning, two at lunch and four in the evening. No slacking.
If I don't get to Missouri - I hope to be almost through Illinois by the end of the month. I hope the weather cooperates for those noon walks!!!
