6 months

It's been 6 months since I was diagnosed with diabetes. Originally my A1C was 9.3, today it is 5.6. Originally, I was put on 2 diabetes meds. Today, I am on none. My doctor and I have agreed to try to control through diet and exercise. He is concerned about hypoglycemia. I know from my daily readings that I am quite a ways from this concern (my numbers are usually 5s with only two 4s in the last 3 months). But we are both willing to embrace my goal of getting off meds. Now I need to ensure I follow my part - daily exercise and low carb diet.

My cholesterol is still too high but I had side effect to the med and discontinued using it. So, the dr. and I have agreed to give it 6 mos to see if I can lower my cholesterol through diet and exercise.

I'm still on the high blood pressure meds but my goal is to get off that too.

A big thanks to the Paleo Team for providing me with info regarding low carb diets.

Wonderful news. Your story sounds a lot like mine although I'm still on BP, Cholesterol and diabetes meds but all but we've reduced dosages on all but the cholesterol meds. I'm hopeful that eventually I'll be able to get off all of them, so you're an inspiration.
