where would you be if things were different?

Monday, May 26, 2014

If things were different I would be sitting at Diamond's pizza having coffee with my mom and her best friend right now at this time, talking about how the weekend was what we all did. Mom would be talking about what dad was going to have for dinner or asking what Kelley was cooking so she didn't have to cook lol. But things are not different, I live in Kentucky, my dad lives in Georgia and mom is buried in the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery... No I am not ok, hope everyone has a good Memorial Day! So where would you be if things were different?

I would be sitting in the backyard drinking a beer and being happy that wars had been abolished.

I would be wherever God intends for me to be. Because God is God, and I am not, so I don't get to rewrite history, no matter how much I would like to or how painful it is.

While I am recently retired, one of my former employees is in the Army reserve, has already done a tour in Afghanistan and when the budget crisis/sequester hit, his reserve weekends changed to bring all your own food and bedding with you. Just. Not. Right!

emoticon I would love to be sitting here chatting with my grandpa (my dad's dad) about the war he was in and he would probably be wondering why everyone these days is so darn lazy. LOL! Hope your weekend goes alright. emoticon

I'd be with mom in fact I was just with her the other day a scrubbing party at her headstone my sis n I go every yeasr.
Today always evokes sadness in me
a cousin in the Arizona Pearl Harbor Hawaii
another cousin left his arm in Africa WWII
My brother lost a piece of his soul in North Korea
baby brother left a bit in the tunnels of 'Nam
    A son in the Desert
All gave so much in very private ways.
Many of their friends/buddies could not face another day in their locations.
While money being made hand over fist and ads begging the middle and lower class for money to help the wounded after we have given so much already.
Today I read that our serving person have had their rations cut to twice a day while prisoners always get al least 3 a day.
