May Goals

Sunday, May 04, 2014

If you read my April blog you know that while I moved a fair amount, I wish it had been more, and that I ate badly overall, and gained weight as a result.

May is off to a good start and I wanted to jot down my general goals for the month.

I have started tracking again. And measuring everything. No more eyeballs and estimates. emoticon EVERY DAY.

I am trying to reduce my food budget with better planning and fewer conveniences (going to make my own hummus this week, for example). Under $200 in food stamps isn't going very far since I insist on all-organic and all-humane!

Get back to keeping carbs at a reasonable level (under 150) every day.

...and no more bingeing! Work on keeping known temptations out of the house completely, to avoid eat-everything-in-the-house moments derailing me too hard; snack on vegetables; DRINK TEA when the cravings come. (I am a big fan of Yogi's Healthy Fasting).

FitBit: No days below 10,000 steps. Absolutely unacceptable for me to be having days under 5,000 like I did in April, and hopefully I'll make the magic minimum every day. So far, so good. Would also like to do at least one 1-mile top of the hill & woods loop just about every day. emoticon

Strength: Go to at least 2 Body Pump classes, and vary ST workouts at gym with emphasis on getting away from machine-assisted weights altogether. I might pay for a (discounted for employees) training session in the near future, to learn the squat rack and some kettlebells or something like that. I really need to graduate to big-girl weights! emoticon

Cardio: Switch it up at the gym! Now that I'm 2 full weeks quit smoking again, I want to get to 30-min stairmaster and rower sessions on super-calorie-torching days. I want to be able to do more than 5 mins on the arc trainer or the speed skater. Maybe I'll try a spin class one of these days... I used to like biking...

Mind/body: GET BACK TO YOGA for goddess' sake, girl! emoticon
It is very hard to get to a class at my gym because of my work schedule, and I can't afford to go anywhere it isn't free, so I need to start practicing at home or going back in to work in the evenings even though I don't want to make the trek!

Hope everyone is enjoying setting and meeting goals for themselves. Have a wonderful May!

Love your goals! Hope you're having a great month, I think with May rolling on into June, everyone is gonna start busting ass again and taking names. That's my highly educated assumption. ;)

    Those are some great goals!
As for yoga, of course you know that I am a big fan and think everyone should do it, so pardon me again for saying YES again to you and yoga! When you wake up do a few sun salutations or your favorite flow of poses. Start with 10 minutes. See where that takes you.

Great goals! I am right there with you on a couple of them. I too plan on keeping the sugars in check, under 150 sounds like a good number, and practicing yoga more.

Good going on quitting the smokes! I used to smoke 15+ a day when I was 25, the best thing I ever did for my health was giving them up. (Though I gained close to10 kilos the first year after, I was still in better shape after..)
