5K race day!

I have now run a 'real' 5K!
Good experience, learning experience.
The good:
Best time ever for the first mile, under 10 minutes.
I did the whole thing! 13 minute miles, not too shabby. Solidly in the middle of the pack.
The learning:
Pacing is important; a good time in the first mile means too tired to run well the rest of the race.
I need to train on more hills. Very steep climb during mile 2; gave in and walked for a bit.
Check the playlist on the MP3 player before the race starts.
Tie the shoelaces more securely.
Don't expect your children to be impressed. They really don't care.
So, gardening, R & R, and finishing thesis edits for the rest of today. I pushed myself, I'm in much better shape than I was 3 months ago. Maybe do another race in 6 -8 weeks, but I'll think about that later.
Go me!
