March 2014 Progress Report
Monday, March 31, 2014
The first of March I bought myself a little planner and began documenting my progress. It may seem a little redundant since I do use the fitness and nutrition trackers on sparks. However, I have always been a more visual person. I also wanted a permanent record of my journey as I will be at this quite a while before I ever hit maintenance. I think I can more easily identify patterns using an at a glance view.
One of my goals this month was to hit the 1000 fitness minutes. I achieved that. Woo Hoo! I have also been working on getting my step count up. Originally I tried for the 10K steps a day but I just wasn't hitting it and it made me feel a little defeated. I dropped my goal down to 8K a day. I reward myself with a green star every day I meet the 8K steps a day. Whenever I go over 10K steps a day I reward myself with a gold star. Well, I met my step goal 22 days in March. 13 of those days I went over 10K steps. I am proud of myself. It seems like a kindergarten reward system giving myself all these stars, but hey, it's working and I am pleased with my progress.
I haven't gone hungry. I do not feel that I am dieting. A couple of years ago I started changing my eating habits and I mostly eat clean, whole foods. I do need to work on portion control and I have a problem with late night eating when I get home from work. This has proven to be my hardest bad habit to change. I am open to suggestions if anyone else has had this struggle and has had victory in this area.
I am down 6 lbs this month and I feel good about that. What I feel the best about though is that I feel in control and no longer do I feel destined to a life of being in the obese category.
If anyone else has other tools they use to reinforce what they are doing on sparks I welcome your comments. I am learning so much from others on this site.
