5% Challenge Complete
Tuesday, March 18, 2014
In February I reluctantly joined the Winter 5% Challenge feeling as if, here's something else I'm going to leave unfinished. But I completed the whole 8 weeks. I learned a lot about myself, being the competitive person that I am.
1) I don't lose weight as fast as used to. I would drop more than 2 lbs. a week just 3 years ago. I thought that being over 300 lbs. I would've lost more than my 5% goal, which was 16.2 lbs. Some weeks I would lose a pound and a half more or less and then I might lose 2 tenths of a pound.
2) I have fibromyalgia and conditions that affect my back & weight bearing joints. I shouldn't have jumped in and done the maximum amount of exercise for maximum points, especially since before the challenge I wasn't exercising on a regular basis. Doing this left me in pain and tired all of the time, but I kept pushing myself hoping for that exercise high. I did a lot of cardio with a wee bit of flexibility, and strength training. I need to rework my regimen so that things are more balanced.
I shed a lot of tears because I wasn't seeing the results that I wanted, but I had to stop beating myself up because I was trying my best. In all I lost about 8.8lbs. during the challenge. Now my next challenge is to keep the pounds coming of until the next team challenge.
