Our lives are a series of connections; old and new, strange and familiar, pleasant and not so much so. We all need them in one form or another. Whether they take place on the Internet, in person or through reading something on actual paper.
I had the lovely experience of connecting friends in my virtual world to my physical world. And, it was wonderful. I guess my concern in meeting these friends with whom I had only communicated on-line (with the exception of one) was that there would be awkward silences or trepidation about speaking one's mind, or worrying about acceptance. We were all so close and have shared so much about ourselves, our worries, our joys, our troubles while in the cocoon of a sort of anonymity. It could be great or it could be disappointing.
Well, of course, it was great! From the moment that I arrived and immediately saw the one person that I had met I was embraced both emotionally and physically. We were all so excited to be together and the conversation never waned. We enjoyed one another, we supported one another, we amused one another and we fed one another-LOL.
We already knew each other in a very personal way so the ice was broken with the first hugs. This is a testament to the strengths and personalities of our group. THERE FOR EACH OTHER as well as for ourselves. Much laughter, a few tears, great support, valid information, and delicious food to nurture us. And we are all nurturers. We fed each other and ourselves in many ways. And, like real life, when we thought we were done, we wanted more. A problem at some times, but not with this. We want more!
So here's to the next gathering of those with whom we connect. We hope to add to the numbers. Everyone should feel this way.
