Birthday Party and Tess improving!
Tuesday, March 11, 2014
It was son#3, the Policeman's Birthday yesterday---It was fun!
I also must sing praises for the internet!-Tess the German (dog) with Blasto is improving everyday---You see, a week ago, after visiting the vet, her antifungal meds were changed ---She went ""down hill"" pretty fast--fever up--panting---wouldn't eat---A fellow Blasto dog owner somewhere in Southern Ontario, upon seeing my dilemma, and depths of despair, sent a Blastomycosis web site---There are 27 pages of pet owners questions and answers from pet owners all over the US and Canada--- These are Blasto survivors, telling how they coaxed their dogs through this lengthy disease.
I learned that when anti fungal meds are changed, there must be a loading dose to keep the level of the medication, up , in the blood stream--If this isn't done, expect your pet to digress- over 4-5 days, ---which is exactly what happened--
Also the meds don't work as well with antacids--which is what Tess was on---
Live and learn eh?--
So--another day to hit the Dreadmill---walk---read----dri
nk more water---be kind to himself---and be grateful that we are alive----and pray for all the snow to go--SOON!
