What I am doing right

I am living an intentional life. I am learning to do things on purpose so that I can make the progress in my life that I seek. I am grateful and express my gratitude daily to God and to others in my life. I am learning to arrest my negative self talk. For some reason, negative self talk has always come too easily to me. I have been working on changing this behavior and I have gotten so much better. I catch myself doing it and I immediately change the subject with myself to one that is positive and reaffirms my strengths, thereby reinforcing what I am doing right.

I started focusing on my health when I turned 50. My lipid panel and all my yearly labs have come back in the healthy range at my 2013 and 2014 physicals. I am very pleased with this change. My biggest hurdle now is to get to a healthy BMI.

My daily steps are increasing. I am hitting my goal of 8000/day on most days. Several times a month I track over 10,000 and have been as high as 12,500. I continue to push myself trying to reach a 100% of my 8K goal so I can move on to my next goal of 10K/day.

I am learning to focus on what I CAN do and less on what I can't do.

I am making progress and I have lost 10lbs so far this year. It is coming off more slowly this time around. However if I stay at a 5lb weight loss each month I will be down another 50lbs by the close of this year. How awesome is that?

My dogs are happier with me now that I am walking them on a regular basis. I alternate days with them as I can't walk them both at the same time. It is doing us all good.

I am glad I finally created a spark page and starting using the community features. I can't believe I was a member 2 years before ever doing this. I seem more focused and get inspired and recharged by interacting with the other members.

I am not doing things perfectly, but I am improving and I am pleased.

    Great job on the labs and the walking! I have a goal of 12,000 a day and get there most days. 10 lbs so far this year is great too! I think if you lose it slowly and it is a lifestyle change you will be more likely to keep it off. That is how I am losing it. I have lost 50 lbs over 14 months and about 25 more to go. This time it's for good!
