HM training notes - Saturday 7.2 miler
Sunday, March 09, 2014
Saturday's training program called for a 5k race, but I decided to skip a race and extend my distance to make up for two lost training days last week. On Friday, I could have easily gotten in my scheduled 3 mile run, but then I wouldn't have had time for my kettlebell training... But getting in my kettlebell training would mean missing a run... So, I decided to do both (well sort of). I alternated between 20 swings with a 24kg bell, then a 30 second sprint on the elliptical machine. I did that for 20 straight minutes and felt pretty satisfied with the result.
So back to yesterday's run - I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day! Big accomplishment: I made it up Water Tank Climb without walking! While on my run, I enjoyed the sights, sounds and smells of progress - new homes being built in a subdivision that went bankrupt several years ago; neighbors burning weeds; people out hiking, riding horses, quads, motorcycles, bikes, etc. After my morning run, we had lots of progress around our house, too! We spent most of the day cleaning up our workshop to get it ready for our next home project.
Run stats: 7.2 miles in 1:16:46 with a 10:40 pace and an 868 ft climb.
