What are your goals?

Saturday, February 15, 2014

I read the blogs all the time and I read so many people want to lose weight and a few sound desperate and a few have a goal that they want to lose weigh for. I think it is essential that we recognise a time and a place in the future that we want to get some progress or show. If we don't we then don't have any pressure to keep to the program or push for the exercise to be consistent. What are the goals that you have set? and how long do you give yourself to get in shape and healthy?

I try to review my goals once a week to see how they're working for me. I have long term goals and weekly goals. I think it's great to review then often to make sure they are still motivating me. If you pick the wrong goal it can be off putting but as suzi said, with no goals or time scale we lack motivation. Keep going towards your goals people, well done for all the progress you've made on them so far!

I set very definite and, I thought, attainable goals (lose 1 pound per week), and worked very diligently and faithfully towards them. I didn't cheat at all and exercised at least 30 minutes and sometimes more each day. Sadly, even after 4 months, my scale didn't reflect all my hard work. I did however lose lots of inches and lowered my BP, Cholesterol, and blood sugar to normal, and was taken off all my meds. That's something. So, I have to redo my goals, I guess.

I agree. It is a good idea to have specific measurable and time bound goals. But sometimes people need to start off small. My goal is to reach my target weight by May/June this year, and I am well on track for that.
But I have not met previous goals to do this by a certain time, and the time constraint was demotivating. So sometimes setting time limits can set us up for failure, when what we really need is many small successes, so that setbacks are seen in proportion.
But enough about other people, what are YOUR goals?
