Cutting back on refined sugar

My weight has crept up a few pounds in the past few months, and I want to get it back down. I tried by adding exercise - intervals to my walking, strength training (a few weeks ago). These seemed to give a short-term boost to the weight loss, but not a big difference.
So I decided to try cutting back on refined sugar. (As opposed to sugar that is naturally in fruit, or even in honey - not that I eat much honey) I don't really eat a lot of sugar, but over the holidays - well, you know how it is. . . .
I only started this week, but at least I'm seeing the pounds start to drop off again. Now I need to keep it up! With God's help, I can do it.
