Finding My "Sweet Spot" in My Calorie Range
Sunday, February 02, 2014
Week one in the Eat Up, Slim Down Challenge focuses on tracking your food and exercise to find the sweet spot where you loose without feeling hungry. My spot seems to have gotten lost. I haven't found it again yet. I'm either over or under range, under more often than over these days.
I think inconsistent exercise is a one of the reasons I'm having trouble. When I think back to the years when I had nutrition and exercise in balance, consistency was the key. When I was home, my weekly routine included 4 or 5 days at the gym, dancing once or twice a week, and walking the dog daily. When travelling for work I found ways to continue the ST and cardio. I tracked everything.
Since I seem to need the regimen challenges give me, I joined the the 5K Your Way Walking Challenge Friday. For several years I've wanted to race. I tried the C25K plan a couple of times, but never finished it for one reason or another. I think the 5K walking plan will work better for me right now. Walking 3 days a week and doing other exercise between my walks fits my life right now.
I still have a desire to run a half marathon one day. I have to walk before I run. Friday I walked 15 minutes. Today I walked a mile. Tuesday I'll walk 1.5 miles. Tuesday Ron starts cardiac rehab twice a week which will make it easier for me to stick to my plan. I'll go to my gym while he is doing his rehab.
By this time next week I hope to have found my sweet spot again and be on my way to walking a 5K this spring, running one this summer and one day the half marathon.
