Count the Cost

Tuesday, January 14, 2014

This morning I read a SP friend's blog who was getting ready to start Made to Crave. I only made it through chapters 1-3 last year. I have been meaning to start back up on it, but just haven't made the effort. Well, thanks to Jodi's blog I did today. I watched Session 4 "From Triggers to Truth" and it was timely.

She talked bout the danger when we start to feel successful, we can become not as diligent or consistent. And when the triggers to eat come we need to be prepared. "Every trigger has to be matched with truth in order for our center, our soul, to become more done--done enough to withstand the triggers of temptation. When we identify old lies, we need to match them with new truths"... and a Bible verse to along with that truth.

Another thing she said was to "count the cost". "When I look at what it takes to burn the (#) of calories and count the cost, it's not worth it.....Know what it's costing you in terms of calories and what it takes to burn that many calories."

This afternoon was frustrating - I made 14 quilt blocks and when I was finished I realized I had them wrong. I was so tempted to just eat chocolate banana bread and whatever else I could find. However, I remembered what I had heard this morning and nibbled on a protein bar instead. I figured out how to fix them, but I was still frustrated. I counted the cost and knew it wasn't worth it.

Daily Goals....
1. Minimum of 30 minutes of exercise though I am trying to get 120 min a day -- emoticon 63 min
2. Minimum of 5 freggies emoticon5
3. 8-10 glasses of water emoticon12
4. Lean protein for one snack -- emoticon
5. Do NOT graze/snack all day -- emoticon
6. Blog even if it is to keep track of goals. emoticon

Great post. I need to look into getting Made to Crave. I have heard lots about it. Also, I can't remember if I commented on a past post of yours, but you mentioned saying something like "Do it now" instead of putting off starting good habits. I have been thinking about that and know that I need to start reminding myself of that sentence when I am tempted to "start again on Monday." Great advice; thank you!

I've never thought about counting the cost. I have no idea how many calories it takes to do anything. But I really like this idea. I will start looking into this and use it.

If I took, say 5 minutes or so to count the cost, I could easily talk myself out of that extra food that likely falls outside my ranges. Congrats on a well-done day!
