REVIEW OF 2013

Monday, January 06, 2014

I LEFT MONCTON, NB ON APRIL 1ST. I PUT MY BELONGINGS IN STORAGE, SO I COULD SPEND SUMMER WITH MY 92 YO MOM IN QUEBEC. I RENTED A CAMPING PLACE FOR THE SUMMER AND VISITED MY MOM OFTEN. I ALSO GOT A DOG WHICH WAS THE MAIN REASON I LEFT MY APARTMENT. emoticon

AT THE END OF THE SUMMER, I DECIDED TO STAY NEAR MY MOM BECAUSE I AM THE ONLY ONE WHO WAS FREE TO DO SO, AND ALSO I WANTED TO SPEND TIME, AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE, WITH HER. IT WAS DIFFICULT TO LEAVE MY SON AND GD IN NB BUT AFTER A FEW TEARS, THEY UNDERSTOOD.
SINCE THEN, I AM KIND OF ALONE, STARTING ONCE MORE A NEW LIFE. I GOT DEPRESSED AND WALKED AWAY FROM SP. THAT PILED A 20 POUNDS BACK ON ME, IN NO TIME.
I KNOW I MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE FOR MY MOM. IN THE BEGINNING WE THOUGHT SHE DID NOT HAVE LONG TO LIVE. BY THE END OF THE SUMMER, SHE WAS BACK STRONGER AND HEALTHIER. I LIKE TO THINK THAT I GAVE HER THE WILL TO STAY ALIVE, BY BEING THERE OFTEN AND BEING ABLE TO CHECK ON HER. emoticon

MY MOM IS VERY QUIET AND NEVER WANTS TO DISTURB ANYONE. SHE WOULD TELL THE HELPERS THAT SHE COULD DO EVERYTHING BY HERSELF. BEING THERE AND CHECKING WITH THE HELP, I DISCOVERED THAT SHE DID NOT. SHE WAS COVERED WITH WOUNDS IN PLACES THAT NO ONE CHECKED. emoticon
AFTER THAT,THEY HAD A PLAN IN MOTION AND NO MORE... NO... FROM HER. SHE NEEDED TO BE BATHED AND HAND WASHED EVERYDAY.

SHE FORGETS A LOT OR SAY THINGS THAT DID OR DID NOT HAPPENED. BECAUSE I AM THERE OFTEN I CAN DOUBLE CHECK WITH THE HELPERS AND I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENS.

I REALLY ENJOY MY TIME WITH HER AND THE OTHERS AT THIS PLACE BUT ITS NOT INTELLECTUALLY CHALLENGING. I NEED TO FIND NEW FRIENDS, DO THINGS BESIDE BEING WITH OLDER PEOPLE. I LOOKED AT VOLUNTEER WORK BEFORE XMAS. NO CALLS BACK THERE. I NEED TO GET AT IT AGAIN.

I AM A SURVIVOR AND A FIGHTER AND I SHOULD BE ABLE, AGAIN, TO GET ON TOP OF THINGS. emoticon

I HOPE I DID NOT GET YOU TOO DEPRESSED. I MAINLY WROTE FOR MYSELF AND FOR MY SPF WHO WONDER WHERE I AM. emoticon

ON A MORE POSITIVE NOTE, I WILL WORK HARD AT MAKING 2014 A BETTER YEAR FOR MYSELF AND PEOPLE AROUND ME. I WILL TAKE THE OPPORTUNITY, THAT SP GIVES ME, TO GET AND GIVE SUPPORT TO MY FRIENDS ON LINE.
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
ONEHUNDRED LAND, I WILL BE AFTER YOU THIS YEAR WITH A VENGEANCE...LOL

LOVE ALWAYS
LISE
PS...I WILL POST SOME PICS OF MY MOM ON MY PAGE. IT TAKES TOO MUCH PLACE HERE.

That would be great to see pics of your mom.

They never want to ask for help, but they always appreciate it when they get it!

What a wonderful daughter you are. I do believe that your being there really did make a difference. It is so hard to see our parents age and have problems. Even her body must fell better now and that helps her to do better. I'm sure it was very difficult to move and leave your family behind. Hope you get to see them soon.

Can't believe someone hasn't snatched you up to do volunteer work. Don't give you.

    hugs...Mary Anne

Your mother is so fortunate to have you there with your love and support. You'll appreciate this time and investment, as I find myself visiting my Dad in full nursing care a couple times a week while I'm in the northland. The bad days are tough, but the good days bring such joy. Take care of yourself, girlfriend. Hug, hug -- Evelyn

Glad you are looking after your mom. I am sure it is just what she needs and I am sure she appreciates having you there. Where in Quebec are you? If you want to meet others try meetup.org. There are all kinds of groups for all kinds of interests and they do meetups all the time. You can meet lots of people that way. I know that 2014 will be a great year for me too.

LISE! I AM GLAD TO SEE YOUR POST. YOUR MOM KS SO FORTUNATE TO HAVE SUCH A CARING DAUGHTER.
LIKE YOU, I AM HOPING TO GET TO ONEDERLAND. I AM 23 POUNDS AWAY. I WOULD LOVE TO GET TO WONDERLAND BY MARCH 25 BECAUSE THAT IS WHEN I BECOME A 10 YEAR CANCER SURVIVOR. I THINK THAT WOULD BE A GOOD WAY TO CELEBRATE.
I AM SO GLAD YOU ARE WELL. AND I AM VERY, VERY GLAD YOU ARE BACK WITH SPARK PEOPLE!
    LOVE,
    KAREN

Thank you Lise for letting us know what was going on. I like what you say at the end YOU ARE A SURVIVOR AND I FIGHTER. I know this to be true and you will be able to do this again.
I also think that you made the right decision about your mother.
I am happy to see you back, always admire your spunk. Be here to cheer you on Lise
Hugs to you and pheboe emoticon emoticon emoticon

Oh Lise, I am so sorry for the difficult times you have gone through. Almost each time one of my Sparkfriends disappears from SP, it is because things aren't going well, and I am really sorry it was your case as well... I think you made the right decision for your mom too. But please take good care of yourself. emoticon

Lise, you are one plucky and brave woman. You uprooted yourself for your Mom and it sounds like it was a good thing that you did with all she has going on right now. I could give you a list of suggestions, but I bet you don't need them. Mostly you need to know how much we love you and how important it is that you stay connected with us. Thanks for sharing with us and for letting us know how things are going. We'll be rooting for you and you know where to find me! LOL! So proud of you for being back with us!!! (((Hugs))) and lots of love, Jeannie emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
