Nibble Scribble

Friday, January 03, 2014

A few years ago when I was in TOPS we had a phrase..."When you nibble, you got to scribble"...this was to encourage us to track all our food. Well, I never tracked all the bites here and there because it is difficult in SP food tracker. How do you weigh/measure one bite??? So, I never really have an exact track of what I eat.

Therefore, I have modified the saying to -- "When you nibble, you got to scribble. And if you can't scribble you can't nibble! This is one other thing I am going to do to help me break this habit of mindlessly eating.

So, today I was successful in the mindless eating arena. Between "DO IT NOW" and the "Scribble Nibble" sayings I stopped short many times in popping something into my mouth! emoticon

Another thing I did was to have a Think Thin Protein Bar as a snack. But I would just take one bite and slowly chew, then wait a little before I would take another bite. This helped satisfy the constant "need" to be eating something. And I was able to track it as one serving even though it lasted all morning.

It was a crazy busy day -- I had all 5 grandkids + 2 daycare kids, did laundry and made a skirt for my oldest granddaughter. Great Day!

Daily Goals....
1. Minimum of 30 minutes of exercise though I am trying to get 120 min a day -- emoticon 30 min elliptical + 5 strength = 35 min
2. Minimum of 5 freggies emoticon 5
3. 8-10 glasses of water emoticon 14!
4. Lean protein for one snack -- emoticon
5. Do NOT graze/snack all day -- emoticon
6. Blog even if it is to keep track of goals. emoticon

There is an item someone added to the nutrition tracker "100 calories miscellaneous nibbles". I've used it often for exactly what you're talking about. I get to track, but don't have to figure out how many calories there are in a lick of mashed potatoes or whatever! Sounds like that person may have been in TOPS!

Good plan -- Nibble then Scribble!! Even "tracking" your snacking on a daily blog would help -- seeing the list of "a bite of this" and "a bite of that" would be a good visual to STOP before that next bite!

Ok!!! This is why you're making strides in the right direction!! You're so smart to figure out to do that with the protein bar!! I might have to borrow it! I don't usually snack like that, but if I find myself doing it, this is a great plan! Way to go!! Keep up the great work, my friend!! How you manage to be baby sitter for grands & others, do all that sewing and keep up with your fitness and nutrition and anything else that comes your way is nothing less than amazing!!! You are my hero! (((HUGS)))

Nice that you've figured a way to cut down on nibbles since each one counts. A bar that last for hours and is good nutrition was smart. emoticon
