The only mistake you should be afraid to make is not trying.

Sunday, May 13, 2007

This a such a good piece of advice. How will you ever know if you can do something if you never try. We put such limitations on ourselves when we
tell ourselves that we cannot do something. What is there to be afraid of?

A lot of the time we are afraid because we focus on the goal, and not on what it is we need to do to make that goal a reality. It just seems so overwhelming. Instead, it helps to just look at what we need to do today.
Exercise for 15 minutes. Eat within our points range. Drink those 8 glasses of water. Okay, if 8 glasses is too much for now, drink 2 or 4, then gradually work your way up to 8. If you can't exercise for 15 minutes, then do something for 5 minutes today. Then six tomorrow.

The only limitations are the ones we put on ourselves. We can do anything we set our minds to do! We can choose to tell ourselves that we can't do something, or we can tell ourselves that we CAN do it.

It may help also to think of it this way; You can't just try and run a marathon. You have to "train" for the marathon to finish it. We have to train ourselves to this new lifestyle. We can't just dive in and think that we are going to get it all right the first time we try. We are training ourselves for a better way of life. And the first step we have to take is to not be afraid to do something new because we don't think we can do it!!!

Thanks Paula you always seem to give me an extra boost with your words of wisdom!

Thanks! You are absolutely right on! We can take baby-steps and do just about anything we can dream of, if we persist. Taking on the whole big picture all at once can be overwhelming and sometimes startling enough to make us quit all together, while just working toward small daily goals and staying inthe journey can work wonders! Thanks for your sunshine; and the positive boost it gives me! I amd so glad I read your blog. Keep them coming! -Sandy :"sweet17t" at sparkpeople!
