Service Canada is not a nice service!

Wednesday, December 18, 2013

Why do government offices hire crusty grouchy people?
We , the people, after all, pay their salaries with our taxes---

Himself and my passports expired---
This week I have visited the office in our town, three times---
They are supposed to help you renew these documents. It's called, ""Service Canada""----
I entered this office and was immediately questioned --"Did I fill out the forms?"""
"No"---I answered. "I was hoping to get the forms here"---
She gave me 2 forms and told me to take them home to fill them out.
"Well, I was going to fill them out here", I responded---

Immediately I knew this was not the right response!
She wanted me out of her office---to deal with me later---

When I completed the forms, and returned them to her, I was told that I must take a number---
"But there is no-one else here", I said.
Again, I was told that the rules were to "take a number"-
I did......
And we sat starring at each other--me with the number 1 in my hand--her starring at her computer, pretending I was invisible---

5 minutes passed............
FINALLY------I was ordered to approach her desk----with my filled out forms---
And of course, there were problems with himself's pictures----
And yesterday I returned to that most dreaded office once again----
This time, I knew the rules, so--I took my number--
Again I was the only person there----
And again.......himself's papers were rejected----(my papers had been cleared and already were on their way to Ottawa---)

So to-day, himself is heading to "the most dreaded office""!---
He will carry his papers--hopefully will pass the test , and get his passport papers off to Ottawa---or............maybe he won't be able to travel with me------or---maybe the crusty horrible workers of ""Service Canada"" will love HIM_----Everybody loves Doctors---
Hmmm-----I'll keep you posted---

You just survived your holiday "Scrooge". Sure hope she didn't take the smile from your face...just grin at her...it's contagious...& if you really want to respond..."say,
    "Have a nice day.!"

    You had the last laugh!

Hmmm. I thought that only the US had to deal with this type of "service" from government employees. Good for you for maintaining your composure. I probably would have said something snarky to vent my frustration and then would have been "punished" by being made to wait even longer.

Sadly that seems to be the way of many the world over!

What frustrates me is the lack of integrity among so many people. With government workers it is like they are thumbing their noses at folks, with the attitude that they have the position for life no matter the quality of their work ethics.

I, also, notice that a lot of workers actually spend more time & energy trying to look busy, than it would take to do the job that they are more than willing to take a paycheck for.

The gal you shared about seemed to enjoy being "Queen" of her little office kingdom! I would be tempted to report her for her rude attitude. When she was so busy on the computer, I bet she was on Facebook or even here at SP. emoticon

    God bless you, Lynda!

Not very impressive "service" that's for sure. So overworked they think they are - they should work in the real world. (I know I used to be a government worker many moons ago and then what a shock when I worked in the private sector - difference was day and night!) Perhaps you could gently remind her, with a smile of course, that you pay her salary (as a taxpayer) and that she works for you, not against you - all with a smile of course as you aim to please just like she should!!!

Rude people are so unhappy. They are also a test for us to deal with. I think you passed.

Are you sure you are in Canada and not the US? I hope they DO love him...they need to love someone!

Can't wait for the next installment...or hopefully the END of this story! emoticon

Lord love a duck . . . you're the only one there and you have to take a NUMBER!?!?! Sheesh. Well, hope things go better for Himself today!

I had to laugh at that one. You are so right that we pay their salaries and why are they always so mean and nasty. Hopefully it will out for Himself. I really had to laugh at the take a number and you were the only one there. OMG!!! And I hate it when they pretend that they do not see you especially after they watched you walk in. That happens ALL over. And I have to get my passport renewed and my himself keeps telling me that I need to do it or I will have to go through the whole process again. Yeah, just tell me when I have time to do it.

Crossing fingers that Himself does not run into any more trouble!!

She should be turned into her supervisor. Nothing caused more concern in my job than someone contacting a congressman.

Oh boy, do you think it is the "holidays", or is that person really that nasty? I am sure there are many people who would be very happy to take her job and perform it with a smile! Hope all goes well. Well how did you do with the results from all that partying? Did we stay in goal? I have been doing OK, with the exception of the birthday cake, and drinks, and food, and Ok maybe not so well at your party. But since then I have been OK. We will talk about that party for some time! I don't think I have ever seen anyone dance like that! It was hilarious.
Have a great day. Lupin was worried Tess wouldn't like shorter guys. emoticon (Lupin wanted me to send a "lick" to Tess, but I told him it was disgusting,)

Hilarious! I renewed my own passport recently and had . . . yup, sadly similar experience.

Did you not approach that "service" desk on bended knee? What were you thinking?

I was recipient of some gratuitous and rather intemperate remarks about Muslim women and head scarves which totally surprised me. I suppose the presumption was this would be unobjectionable to me since I'm clearly not of that faith. Wrong. Which I made quietly clear. Then wondered whether my application form was going to be filed in a round bin.

But: passport (with felon-style photo) arrived a couple days ago.

Service Canada, an oxymoron? Yup. At least there was a moron somewhere in the room!!

emoticon sorry but it sounds quite insane.....too real not to laugh....
hope your dh gets his papers to pass today!! :)

I laughed as I read. So it's NOT just in the US or Italy? Even Holy Canada has a few clinkers "in service"?

Regardless, Spark a good day! emoticon
