The big D word...

Wednesday, December 11, 2013

So the reason why my health has been on the backburner lately has been one word: divorce. It was my choice. And hopefully I made the best decision.

I'm excited over not having someone not to complain about my healthy food purchases. I recently found an older model fully functioning fitbit (since I lost my old one even though I thought I found it during the move). I've started just calorie counting and aiming for 10k steps when I work. I think this week I will push for 10k when I am off work. Which is hard. I feel like this is permission to fix me!

I haven't been hooping much. I haven't been doing much of anything related to wellness. After the ex had lost his job, I started to do intermittent fasting/5:2 which was going amazing. I think no matter what I decide health/food wise, I will stick to IF. I know it's time to start losing weight. Last week I started to have my right knee give out in the middle of a shift. Although surprisingly I only gained 8 pounds through the divorce (or at least the day I checked versus my memory).

Although I am kinda upset because I have hardly no access to our work exercise room since I work night shift. I might just start doing some walking DVDs in one of the dining rooms on my breaks or bring a hoop.

My goal this holiday season is to start developing those smart habits and not to gain anymore weight (236). I am hoping that I might be in the 220s by Christmas with how the scale is working. I'd really love that! Especially since I need a few non-Christmas scrubs to be ready to wear that fit. I'm already planning on buying a ticket to Kinetic tomorrow (I hope I get one). I want to be smaller by Kinetic time and other spring dates planned. I've already submitted my class application for Playthink Movement festival, too.

I hope life has gotten better since your big D. It is hard to end a bad relationship even if it was bad. Glad you are moving on and putting your health first. I have walked in your shoes not in a married relationship but after a 20 year engagement. It hurts deeply and changes many componenets in your world. God bless you and hope it is getting better. Once I moved on with my life, I met my true soul mate, so it was a real blessing that I made the move after waiting 20 years for a legitimate proposal. My ex did not want children and because of him I was 42 and never married. After two years I was married and got pregnant over night and now we have been married for 15 years.
Life will get better! emoticon emoticon

Divorce is hard no matter the circumstances; after the initial mourning period (after all there is a loss of old dreams) I took inventory of what I still had and the opportunity to reinvent myself. Happy with the results and I'm sure you will be too! Shoot for health Shannon. All your plans are in that direction; enjoy your new life!

I remember divorce. It totally consumes your mind, diverts attention from everything else. But eventually it gets farther and farther behind you as the years go by, and someday you'll be looking back to now. What will you weigh then? Now is the time to get started!

From my point of view you made the right decision because that is what you did. No need to second guess ourselves, we are ALWAYS doing our very best with all the information we have at the time.

You are doing wonderfully! Trust your inner voice.

I lost weight when I got my first divorce because I was so happy to be out of a totally crappy marriage.

Life threw me lots of new loves and formed me into a new woman, time and again. Now my life, my heart is with the most wonderful love I've ever had. I'm losing weight now because I'm making healthy food choices and working at not eating for hurt emotions.

Feel good about yourself. Love again. Love yourself well first.
