Time will tell, but it looks like I may be up in weight after eating on the 7+ fruits and veggies plan this week. Maybe two pounds. One might be fluctuation, but it's frustrating to see two... yesterday it was just one, so I weighed again today and it was two. My body seems to be EXPERT at maintaining 175. Frowny face. :(
On the up side, I really feel much better eating more fruits and veggies! I felt fine during travel with this plan, and only on one day did I go as low as 5 servings. Most days it was seven, some days nine, and yesterday when I was home and had full control I ate 10 servings of fruits and veggies. It was almost all of my food! And, just to be clear, we're talking raw or steamed or canned/frozen, but nothing fried counts. Not even sweet potatoes. :) But we ARE talking broccoli, beets, bananas, clementines, apples, salads... all of that, and I do make and effort to balance out the veggies and fruits. I find fruits easy to reach for, but veggies are a little harder.
So I'm going to keep the fruits-and-veggies plan going, because I think it makes me feel better, but I'm also going to track everything I eat and try to see where it gets me calorie-wise. I often aim for 1,600 but end up at 2,000 due to Tired Eating at the end of the day. I'm trying to replace Tired Eating with Tired Herbal Tea Drinking.
I'm tuned into my body and it is fiscally conservative: I get hungry without both volume and protein. One night this week I woke up STARVING at 4:30am. So I had a little almond milk and toast and went back to bed, and slept just fine. I think my body has some trouble with the fasting that is night time, especially when I'm in a pattern of two sleeps rather than one sleep. Magnesium powder at night seems to help some, and melatonin is okay occasionally.
While traveling, I felt the effects of my dual sensitivities to dairy and soy. I can't eat cow's milk at all (though goat is okay) and my trainer made the suggestion that I just entirely cut out cheese. It is fat and salt laden, and if I cut it out at home, where I usually keep goat cheese, that would stop the occasional night cheese binges. Oh yes, those happen for me! I'm working on it...
And that's what all of this is. Still working on it.
