We arrived in Rome on Wednesday and have spent a couple of beautiful and fun days here in Rome. This is a picture of the little kitchenette in our studio apartment that we rented for 5 days here in the heart of Rome.
Yesterday we went to the Vatican and spent a few hours there. We had purchased tickets at home before we left the States so we arrived before 9a and were alone in many of the rooms at the Vatican since we were able to go in as soon as we arrived and those that had not purchased tickets or were in groups didn't get in until 9a.
The rooms were breath taking, and the Sistine Chapel was absolutely gorgeous, no words can describe the beauty. It is very overwhelming to the senses to say the least. You can't take it all in and the pics that I took don't do the pictures justice but I hope you enjoy those that I did take.
The Sistine Chapel in not a place that you can take pictures since it is considered a holy place.
The courtyard outside our apartment.
These are the gardens of the Vatican.

We climbed many flights of stairs to get to the top of St. Peter's Cathedral. When I got home last night I had climbed over 80 flight of stairs. These were narrow and steep steps. I had a harder time last year in Paris climbing all those steps there so I was interested to see how things would go this time, I am happy to say that it was much easier, not that is wasn't tiring, but it was still easier and I was so glad to be at the top when we got there.
The view from above.
At the Trevi Fountain to end. I had over 31,000 steps in yesterday. To say I was tired would be to put it mildly. We had a great day though and we have lots of steps in today but I hoping it will be less than yesterday. Thanks for visiting, hope you enjoyed just a few of the many pictures that I took.. I will try to do more again tomorrow!
Great photos! I loved St Peter's Basilica but our tour did not allow us time to climb to the top. That must have been quite a work out! I am glad you had 5 days in Rome, with the cruise we had only ONE day -- not nearly enough time; we had only a little taste of Rome. 2710 days ago
Such awesome pictures of the Vatican. I would so much love to visit Italy and the Vatican area, so thrilled you are getting the chance to do so. We are seeing pictures through the lens of your camera. I know what you mean that the pictures don't do justice to being there, as we found that in our travels too. Pictures are lovely, but the eyes see the actual right there beauty that just isn't capturable. 2714 days ago
Fun, fun, fun!!! Thank you Holly for letting us all "travel" with you. It has been so fantastic to see the sites and hear the tales and cheer you on as you pass all of us on fitbit!!!! Keep 'em coming!!! 2714 days ago
Simply beautiful and breath taking. I feel like I am there with you only not as tired from all the steps/walking LOL I like the idea of the studio apartment....just a little more room than a hotel type setting. Looks like you are enjoying yourself, as you should. What kinds of food do they offer over there? Just curious. Have a wonderful day. Many Hugs coming your way. 2715 days ago
The views from St Peter's Basilica are breathtaking!!! And I am so delighted to read that you found it either this time... definitely having less weight to carry makes it easier, and you are much fitter too! Enjoy Rome! I am jealous! :) 2715 days ago
