Pregnancy & Weight Loss??? Possible Pair?

Okay, this is going to be a mixed blog of stuff. I love comments, so please leave me some goodies!

First, here are some pictures from today (this morning), just to make a picture trail of progress, I guess. I hope to see some progress eventually!!


Well to begin, my husband and I have decided we are going to get pregnant, and as you can see I am over weight already (definitely considered obese) so I was wondering if any of your mommies out there think or know it’s okay to health-fully (if that’s a word) lose weight while pregnant? I don’t want to give up on my weight loss hopes at all, I plan to watch my weight and what I eat the whole pregnancy (I am not pregnant yet), but I wonder if it’s still okay to LOSE weight while pregnant?? (IF I can). I know I will still be walking daily, just to keep myself mobile and active to reduce gaining a lot of weight. Any suggestions are helpful!!! (I only gained 15 LBS with my last daughter the whole pregnancy, and I plan to do that again, but possibly losing some would satisfy me better!)

Oh and now I remember the other thing I wanted to ramble about, I think I have my husband talked into buying me one of those activity trackers for Christmas, I am super excited about that. I can’t wait to wear it around daily and see what all it tracks!

Here’s a link if some of you haven’t heard about it. I think if I get it and like it, my next gadget will be one of those FitBit wrist bands, I want one of those too!

    i think that because you are changing your lifestyle with what you eat and adding exercise you should be able to either lose weight or not gain too much with pregnacy...as long as you are constantly talking to your doctor about what you are doing and following their advice. Good luck.

    I have gone through 2 pregnancies overweight so I think I can offer you a little bit of insight. With my first I was around 195 ish when I got pregnant, at 5'1" that is considered obese as well. I wasn't super active throughout this pregnancy but I did workout sporadically I ate terribly in the beginning and was diagnosed with gestational diabetes and had to do insulin shots which kept my eating in the second half pretty healthy since they gave me scare straight experience lol I was the same weight when I went in to deliver that I was when I found out I was pregnant. With my second child I was around 175 when I got pregnant and I ate super healthy trying to avoid round 2 of gestational diabetes I walked constantly and did prenatal workout dvds I didn't have to give myself insulin shots that time around but I did have to take a small dose in pill form I gained 20 pounds throughout and could definitely tell the difference in my labor it was so much easier than my first and I totally credit that to how active I was during that pregnancy we are currently planning our third and I plan to workout and eat clean throughout that one as well. So now that you know a little of my background here is what my doctor, my nutritionist and my diabetic educator told me both times, weight loss should not be your focus health should be your focus if you walk now keep walking if you run marathons keep running but don't start a new routine. Eat clean, remember everything you put in your mouth goes right to that baby and she needs all the nutrients and calories to grow don't deprive yourself don't count calories eat when your hungry drink plenty of water fuel your body with good food if you lose weight you lose weight but it is not your purpose right now your purpose is to grow that baby. And they were right I'm glad I kept tabs on where I was so my weight didn't get to out of control but I'm also glad that I didn't let weight consume me during a time that is supposed to be so happy. I stayed on spark throughout my pregnancy to keep me accountable as a little reminder that I will have to lose again what I gain and to stay in touch with spark friends but I didn't track because calories weren't my focus.     Well in case others of your are wondering, since no one has commented, I found this website where other ladies were discussing pregnancy and losing weight, so I am hopeful!! Just want to be safe and healthy at the same time and come out of this pregnancy with no extra pounds attached! :) (if I get pregnant)
