The first thought that came to mind when I first saw this picture was: What a confident woman! Then as I began to read the facebook comments I became radically angry. Comments like "Yuck!" or "Plus size is great, but she is just too big," broke my heart. How can people, even other plus size women, bash this woman for her confidence. It just goes to show that people are so unhappy with themselves that they will go out of their way to hurt other people. I feel as though this image does not promote obesity, but that it promotes confidence. No one knows her diet, whether or not she exercises, nor any other details of her health; those things are between her and her doctor. If you can't see her confidence you are looking at the wrong thing.

Sorry about the rant, I just couldn't hold it in anymore.

I honestly feel that we as big women can be comfortable in our skin without showing the world. Everything isn't to be shown and I feel the same about small women. There is too much skin shown these days and its all ungodly! I love the Lord, people need to learn to respect themselves and everyone else. Stop showing the world everything and stop agreeing with everything. If we don't stand up for something, we will fall for anything!

I saw that on several fashion bloggers I follow. I'm not surprised by the nasty comments, people will be people. You're right its about confidence and loving who you are and not worrying about what others may say or think. Like I was taught you can't please everybody and if you don't like it...keep your mouth shut and keep it moving. She's powerful and spoke to a lot of us and thanks for your rant and for sharing! Beauty comes in many shapes and sizes but love of self is much more beautiful

Thanks for the comments! I just had to share it. The comments under the article were positive, but some of the fb comments were just so horrible and ignorant I just couldn't believe it. But I loved seeing someone on the runway who looks more like me it inspired me to be more comfortable with my body.

That's why I use facebook to send "birthday wishes". There are so many trolls out there.

Are you talking about the young lady in the blue with the golden scarf and matching wrist length gloves? http://plusmodel.uberflip.com/i/203
703 She is GORGEOUS!! I would put on 20 more pounds if I could look like her. (Curse you apple shape!!)I don't think it promotes obesity.

Let's be realistic, most ads don't promote health. Most of them promote females who are rail thin. Thin is fantastic as long as the person is healthy. They are finding that models internal fat disrupts the body’s communication systems. The fat enveloping internal organs might be sending the body signals to store fat inside organs like the liver or pancreas.

As for the whole spread, you have to be confident to strut out there in your underwear. They are really nice looking unders. However, you couldn't pay me enough to wear that balloon red thing... It is too close to hooker meets the bride for me. emoticon

I checked out the pictures and went to read the comments and all of them were positive. Lots of "I love this!" and "Good for them" below the actual article.... I didn't look at FB. I closed that account because I found people to be extremely mean spirited on there. So, maybe that has something to do with the negative comments you had seen.

But I agree with you - confidence is key and those girls definitely are that. Good for them!! ... and thanks for posting that article!
