Weigh in 03.11.2013

Current weight is 183.2 kg aka 403.9 lbs
Week weight loss is 3.1 kg aka 6.8 lbs

I've been thinking about my health related goals for November.
And I can't think of anything, any suggestions:)?

I can say that I'm lifting weights now, my October goal was to start which I did.
I have a program that I made for myself, figured out my working weights.
So I'll keep on doing that, 3 times per week.

I've added a new Rule for myself - no more then 250 kcal of sweets per day, even added section into my SP food tracker, not a big deal, but a bit of an adjustment.

And yesterday I've been to the dentist, so you can say that my October goal is to take care of my teeth, which is somewhat related to healthy lifestyle, kinda of a stretch thou:)

What I would really want is to help people to overcome there weight problems.
Any suggestion on how to do that are much much appreciated!
I think I'm a positive force for some people on that matter, at least I hope so.
But I want to do more and maybe influence more people or even make a difference for some.

    Good for you for seeing the dentist! I'm 65 years old, and every time I bite into an apple or crunch some almonds, I'm grateful that I have strong, healthy teeth!

    Your common sense approach to fitness and weight loss is refreshing and helpful to other Sparkpeople. Have you thought about studying in your spare time to become a trainer? I'm sure you could also be helpful to your neighbors as you are to us!

    I think just sharing your experience and honest comments is very helpful. I've got to set some goals for November, they will be focused mainly on my eating. I am not able to successful transfer my exercise success to my eating goals. So I'm in a bit of a lull on the exercise front, so I want to see how I can systematically approach losing weight. I've got the target 1lb a week but I don't have the plan yet. Will work on it today.
    As for Nov. goals - what's on your bucket list?

    Hi! I wanted to let you know that you've already done something to help me overcome my weight problems, and I've only read your blog once! Your new rule of having no more than 250 kcal of sweets per day is brilliant! When I've tried to limit sweets before, I've always limited quantity of sweets, not quantity of Calories. As for November goal suggestions, you can come look at my blogs. Most of them center around my monthly goals. Also, I know a lot of people that are calling this Movember with the goal of the month being to move more. Good luck with your goals!

    I don't know weight loss in kilograms or the percentage from over 400, but is that not pretty good? Heavy strength training puts on muscle, which weighs much more. I think maybe yyou have met your goal? If you are unhappy with your results (BTW I took off too much weight in one week and am currently feeling very very ill and weak, so maybe your at least doing it the healthy way);, or even want another thing to push you forward, I would suggest a trail of Spark Coach if you 3 kg or 6.8 lbsis not good for you, they have it for plateaus. They have this category. It's a free trial, you get 500 points for it ihen points for doing their tasks, and it's really cheap after apparently--something like $8 a month. A goal of dental health is top priority!!! I've been putting it off and my teeth are so bad I have to use Sensodyne. I'm a Daisy too. We rock! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon on the weight loss.     I believe the best thing tyou can do for others is keep going, stick to your plan and share your experience and success with those who are interested.
    You are going to inspire many, and you can help those who are ready for the change.

    I remember many friends and colleagues wanted to know how I became active / lost weight / maintained, but most of them lost interest when I told them what I actually did (walk, run, strength train, rest, sleep, control portions, lots of fruit, vegetables, water... every day).

    You are doing really well. As far as your teeth go from personal experience it is so important to take care of them. Because of medication that I have to take and having a gastric by pass in 1983 it has caused my teeth to decay I have lost several teeth now and need to wear partials. They are very expensive as well. It is much cheaper to care for your teeth and not have gum disease that lead to other health problems. I did have gingivitis and had to use a special prescription mouth wash for several months to clear it up. The mouth wash was not covered by my insurance and cost me about 40.00 a bottle and would only last about a month brushing my teeth.

    I would keep writing your blogs as that will lead to Spark friends and others commenting on your blogs lo lend support.

    Oh, no, taking care of your teeth is a serious health issue as gum disease is known to cause issues such as heart disease. It is known that elderly people who lose their teeth eat less and their health goes downhill compared to people who keep and care for their teeth. You did GOOD to go to the dentist, and getting your teeth cleaned is important to save money. Eating SUGAR does rot your teeth, as the bacteria on your teeth eat it and the 'waste" they give off is an acid, that makes cavities in your teeth.

    I tell my sons to always take care of their teeth. My one son got his teeth cleaned at the college where they have a dental hygiene program and it was $10.

    Dental health is just as important and physical or nutritional health. Good for you for going to the dentist. Keep going strong. It is really paying off!
