A Teacher's Whine

I am finding, 2 1/2 months into the school year, that maintaining nutrition and fitness routines during the school year is every bit as hard as I imagined it would be. While I am proud of the effort that I am making, October has been the first month since I began this journey in February that I have not lost any weight at all.

I may have to adjust my expectations over the next few months. I have not gained any weight this month, either, and that is very good. Having lost a little over 65 pounds since last February, maybe I have to focus, during this difficult time of holidays and short days and stress and darkness, on maintaining the progress I have made.

Thanks to all of the Spark teammates who help me stay focused and positive!

    I'm not certain exactly what makes being a teacher on program more difficult than any other profession. We all are challenged daily no matter what time of year it is. So, whatever your challenges are and no matter what time of the year it is I wish you all the strength necessary to stay strong and do your best.

    It is tough with work and the demands of family. So the time might be right for maintaining for a little while and the get back to losing, only you can decide for yourself. Maybe looking back to how you managed back in February with your schedule to see if you can incorporate some of what you did then?

    Though I love fall for many reasons, it's the beginning of marching band season and school for the kids, and the beginning of "peak" in the package delivery business. It takes all my focus to stay on track. I don't have much trouble with the food but making time for activity and exercise is tough.

    If you can maintain through November and December it's as good as having lost weight or gained muscle any other time of year!!

    I had never maintained my weight when I had a hard time before. Since joining SP I have stalled on weight loss but maintained beautifully! That gives me so much hope! When I do start losing again- I know I'll maintain that too! So better not to lose what you can't maintain! Good for you!! emoticon
