30 days of healthy meals and a very long absence

Wednesday, October 23, 2013

Hi there anybody who happens to be reading this! So, I haven't posted a blog in a year and that probably doesn't count because it was a survey and not a "real" blog. How can I explain my absence? Well, with excuses of course. Last December I moved from New York City to San Diego. It's been quite an adjustment but I am really glad that I made the big move. Leaving the greatest city in the world was a sacrifice but it was worth it to be closer to my family AND I am no longer in a long distance relationship with my soldier. My man got out of the Army in February and moved in with me. I won't lie and say that it's been easy; it's been a roller coaster but our relationship is solid and we will get past this.

Since the big move, I have not been working out or eating properly. I'm not walking nearly as much as I used to in NYC and it's definitely affecting my energy levels. I'm sure that doesn't surprise anyone. I haven't made healthy living a priority...until this week. On Monday, my BF and I started a 30 day healthy eating challenge on SP. I've been following the SP meal plans for our dinners and eating sensibly for breakfast and lunch. It's day 3 and things are going well...except that I inadvertently ate a double portion at lunch today. I thought the Fresh & Easy meal I purchased (pumpkin ravioli with butternut squash, yum!) was a single serving but alas it wasn't. That "sensible" lunch turned into 800 calories!!! Yikes. I'm not letting it derail my efforts though. Dinner will once again be sensible and I vow to do a better job of reading labels BEFORE I eat next time.

Well, that's it for now. I'll try to blog more and be a more active SP participant instead of just hiding behind my computer screen. Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the cooler temperatures. I know I am!

Good job for taking on the challenge!
We people in the West live in our cars! It takes a lot of planning and ingenuity to get walks in!
    Best wishes! emoticon

Wow! That's a big move. The East coast misses you, for sure. My guy and I have been living together for a full year now and it has been quite a transition. It's nice to see an update from you and I hope to hear more from you more frequently.
