"Down", but not "Done"

I was trying to get myself in a healthier "place" a couple of monthes ago, and signed up for some "free" tests. The bone density test I came through with flying colors. The mammagram was my first, and although I had always been careful to do "self-exams" and watch for lumps, I was literally "blown away" with the results! I had masses in both breasts and ended up with surgery and reconstruction. Let me tell you that this is alot to handle in just a couple of monthes! I remember back when I first got out of nursing school. Florence Nightingale and I were classmates lol! Anyway, the radical mastectomies of that time were like seeing "train tracks"on these poor woman's chests, and they lost alot of the use of their arms. If there is a bright note in this blog, it is that I was so fortunate to have this happen now. Well, I had my surgeries-They did find cancer in some of the lymph nodes so I am also looking at chemo and radiation in the future. So, what's the "up" part of the story? My mom has been taking fantastic care of me, and although she had a broken back and I had moved in with her to care for her, now she is helping me! So, the long and short of this story is, I believe I was being looked after by an angel through all of this! I have a long road ahead, but feel very lucky to be able to share this with my spark friends! Rock on !!!!!!!!!!!
