Tess sick-AGAIN!

Friday, September 20, 2013

Here is this little fella-------- emoticon
Yesterday I was in a tizzy--Himself wanted to eat dinner at MacDonalds --I didn't!
Y'all came across with suggestions---to go--cut back on calories---not to go--cook at home-
One never knows where a day will go----By mid morning I knew we were having a problem with Tess--the German (as in dog)-with Blasto--Her temperature was 104-(normal dog's temp, is 100_)--She was panting and in distress----After calling the vet, I was told to get her to their office ASAP--- That is a 2 hr drive up the highway----
We arrived there by 2pm-----and after X-rays--blood scans---- 2 vets carrying huge Pharmacology Books in and out of their office-her temp. now up to 105----We were told it's a reaction to the Sporinox she is on to kill the Blasto----so-----after a bill of $605 (Yes it was $605)-- we brought poor Tess home---with new meds--- so--here we go again! Yesterday I cried a lot-----
But-----(the big Butt!)---- before we left in the morning, I was folding laundry in a front room, looked out the window, and there was a huge bear carrying a bag of garbage out of our garage--- This bear was enormous---I yelled --ran out clanging pans and shouting at him, and he ran into the bush---I am a bit paranoid now that he will return-----
Now --after all the tears yesterday--- the horrible MacChicken (Yes, we ate there!)---guess what--?--I LOST ANOTHER POUND__--recycled of course--so---a total of 3 recycled pounds-----
Tis time now to check on Tess---- Oh man! I hope she recovers soon!
Tess sick-----

I hope Tess is better today. So sorry!

Nice to hear from you this morning.

It is good to be back. DH and I are both doing good. DH better than I am but I am scheduled for a Synvisc One Shot on Thursday so hopefully that will get me through our upcoming trip to New York In October.

We have not replace our Miss Macki yet but may do that when we get home from New York. I am thinking I would like a German or a Golden Retriever. We shall see.

Take care and do keep me posted about Tess.

    Hugs, Sunny

Oh no, poor Tess and poor you! Sending prayers for your poor pup.

Vet bills are still cheaper than human doctor bills for people who do not have health insurance, especially if imaging or lab tests are needed. But what price do we put on love??? You love her and that is that.

Remember to take care of yourself while you are taking care of Tess.

Poor thing and that vet bill is huge. Hope the bear stays away and Tess recovers.
Let that recycled pound stay gone forever.

Poor, poor Tess - so sorry after all she's been through that she's now so sick from the meds that are supposed to be making her better. And $605 later - that is disgusting, but what is the expression, that vet has you "by the short and curlies" and you really have no other choice because you love your dog. I'd be crying too, but then again I am because yesterday we had to put down one of our dogs who had cancer, but had thankfully still lived beyond her average lifespan - it's a heartache! I'm thinking about you Lynda!!!

P.S. One of my son's brought home a McD's fish sandwich and yes I ate it.

emoticon So sorry that Tess is sick again, but hopefully, these new meds will get her feeling better soon! It's stressful to have a sick fur-baby...try not to worry. I see Himself won out on dinner :o) The good news is you are down another lb...recycled or not, 3 lbs is emoticon emoticon

Wow, poor Tess, hope she is better soon. Our cat has been sick and we actually just switched Vets since she was not getting better. I live in the suburbs where it is mostly rabbits and squirrels, so a bear would have freaked me out. Congrats on the loss!

Like everyone else who responded, I'm so sorry to hear that Tess is having additional problems. As if the illness itself isn't enough, there have to be problems with the medication to treat it! And the horrid expense is nothing to sneeze at!

We have bears here, too, so I completely understand your concern. We just have black bears here, so not as large as some other kinds. Any chance of sequestering trash where they can't see/smell it? We've had to put our cans in a locked shed between dump runs. Sounds like a big old boar, too. They can be immense!

Stress seems to be something that allows you to drop weight - I've noticed that in some other posts you've made. I'm sorry you've lost that way, but happy that you've lost! And BTW, good job on the McDonald's thing. My own DH frequents there, too, with me "captive" in the car. For future reference, I've discovered that regular cheeseburgers are only 300 calories, and satisfy me quite well, so they're my "go to" and I don't even need to stress about it. :)

Hope things settle for you this weekend, Lynda. Be well.

Oh, Lynda! I was so disappointed when I read the title to your blog this morning...but I am glad that is ALL it was...but that poor baby...and poor you! I probably forgot, but how long did they say it would take to get rid of the blasto (barring occasions like this reaction to the meds? Somewhere in my brain I seem to remember 6 months?)...I will continue to pray for her until she is well!

You did great with McD's. And that is how it goes often...just do what you do but in MODERATION...so for that I and celebrating with you!

Have a emoticon and uneventful weekend, dear friend. You DESERVE it! And I hope you drop 5 pounds just to lift your spirits! emoticon

Oh so so sorry to hear about Tess!! Prayers that the new medicine is finally the right one and that she has a speedy recovery. It is so hard to see them sick and they can't tell you what is wrong.

It is great that you keeping losing the weight, recycled or not. You are heading in the right direction. Hope I can join there soon!!

Keep us updated on Tess' progress. When you worry, we worry!!

OH my gosh. My heart feels so sad for Tess (and YOU!) She looks miserable! I pray that the new med works for her. Major hugs, my dear.

OOOOoohhhhhh how I love that little weekend fellow! Starts Friday off well.

Sorry you ended up @ McDonald's after all. **SIGH** I would be VERY unhappy about that too. BUT 5 recycled lbs. lost. . . kudos!
