All about Jars

The Salads in a Jar have been working well for me. We ate all but one salad and it hasn't been a full week yet (I made that batch on Monday).
I'm keeping the last salad in there because I used a dressing that ended up being horrid, so I'm using it as my "How long until it starts wilting" experiment. There is Mixed Greens, Broccoli Slaw, Radishes and dressing of yuck in there if you started at the top and went to the bottom. We'll see if it lasts the week.

This week... Here's the line up. We bought Quart Mason jars because Dylan wanted bigger Salads.

SesameĀ ,Broccoli slaw, Radish Baked Tofu
Sesame, Broccoli slaw, Radish, Baby corn, Baked Tofu
Mustard balsamic,Artichoke, Green beans, Imitation Lobster

Lemon Mustard balsamic, Artichoke, Green beans, Imitation Crab

Mustard balsamic, Asparagus, Green beans, ,Bacon
Caesar, Asparagus, Green beans, Bacon
Caesar, Grean beans, Radish, Bacon

In each of those jars, I will have lentils in mine, and Dylan will have chickpeas in his for some added protein/fiber source.

I found this really helpful last week. I always came under my calories for the day, and I like the variety.
It also gave me an excuse to use ALL The dried chickpeas we had and most the lentils too. Tired of seeing them in my cupboard.

Next.. I think I'll be doing oatmeal jars. I can just bring it to work and add hot water from our coffee machine.

I feel like a hipster with all these jars, but they are just so useful!

The salad in a jar sounds like a really good idea. Maybe I can talk my mom into getting some jars and then buying some salad mix. The salad mix I get at Sam's club keeps going bad and I hate that. Its going bad because I usually have a couple of salads with it. Maybe I'll use some quart zip lock bags instead of the jars. Like the line up you have. Looks tasty. Not crazy about the Ceasar dressing.

The Caesar, Asparagus, Green Bean and Bacon sounds the best to me. Who doesn't like bacon! Love the variety you have. My salads have been the same lately...mixed greens, orange cherry tomatoes, chopped cucumber, tuna and Balsamic Vin Dressing. I still have lots of tomatoes from the garden, but my cucumber plants have powdery mildew and aren't producing very many. I could treat the plants, but it is September and they will get frost before I know it.

Have a great week! You sound ready for it.
