So Long, Sweets!

In managing to maintain my 4.5 pound loss so far, I decided that I needed a challenge to help me step up my game and get some more weight off. I have a major sweet tooth. Sweets? Sweets are just part of living and breathing. But as of Wednesday July 31, I've had no sweets. I'm into my 6th day and going strong! I haven't had any cake, cookies, or ice cream. No, not even Starbucks. What's helped me is telling myself that I haven't forbidden anything. I know that I can have sweets whenever I want to. I'm just choosing not to. Knowing that if I wanted to march myself right down to Starbucks for an Iced Hazelnut Macchiato anytime I wanted, but making the choice not to, has kept me going. It's easier to have a choice, rather than put my foot down and say that I absolutely can have no sweets. So far, I've only had one day in which cravings were strong, but aside from that, I'm doing okay. I've not completely sworn off sweets for any given amount of time... I'm just taking it day by day and will see how far I get. But I already feel better. I'm not going hard core either. I still have a little bit of orange juice here and there, which has sugar. And on occasion I will have a small bowl of healthy cereal such as Special K or Raisin Bran. I know those have sugar as well, but not as much as the obvious other things. So bottom line, this is my challenge to myself, and I'm winning.

    Good job , I have a total sweet tooth like peanut m&ms and gummie bears are my weakness ... it used to be soda but now that i drink so much water i havnt craved much .. still working out :(

    When cutting the sweets, I think the first one or two days are the hardest. After that, I think it gets progressively easier.

    To challenge myself, I like to switch things up. Come up with a new target each month, or try to improve a bit more each month. For example, if I ate veggies 10 days last month, try to eat veggies 12 days this month... competing against myself.
