A New Home and a New Start!

Monday, July 29, 2013

Well my buyers from hell finally got their act together but even on the actual closing day they managed to screw up. Even though every title company stresses that you bring a cashier's check in the exact amount to closing, they showed up expecting to pay with a personal check! What morons these people are!!! This is the kind of stupidity I've been having to deal with. They had to come back and close at 7:30 at night! Who closes that late?? I waited until I was fairly certain that they were going to close before calling the utilities to cut them off and some needed a few days notice. Plus I wanted AC for when I had to clean out the house and move out the rest of my things. I got most of it out the week before when I moved into the new place. but there were still small things lurking everywhere. Then there was the matter of the three car garage... Why did we buy such a big house??? I had asked for two days after closing to move and shut off utilities since it was such a last second deal. The buyers agreed. However.... the very next day they were already changing the locks. They had also been there earlier and left a bunch of lights on (since I was paying for the lights still)! When I got there in the evening after work the locksmith showed up. I was confused because they were supposed to give me a couple days. My realtor didn't pickup the phone and I was very nervous about a locksmith being there with me alone in the house in my booty shorts. Then along comes their realtor to supervise the locksmith. Then the new owner (male) arrives to supervise them (and me I presume). I told them I was very nervous about them being in the house with me. Nobody said anything. I called my daughter to keep me company and help me move out faster. The owner stuck around until 11:30 pm when I guess he got tired of watching us (never offering to help). Plus when the locksmith was here new homeowner flipped on lights and left doors open. I mentioned that I was still paying the light bill. He ignored me.
The only time he spoke to me was to ask me questions about the mailbox key, the pool and stuff in general about the house. I'm trying to move here and you're not helping me so why should I stop what I'm doing to explain stuff to you??
He also mentioned that I could put stuff in the garage and access my stuff from there the next day. How nice of him!! NOT! It's an oven in there! There I was the next day hunting down a Mexican with a truck in Home Depot to help me clean out the garage. Also, even though Victor (older gentleman boyfriend) had relatives from Switzerland visiting that week he left them to come over and help me and he brought his truck! It takes an hour to drive in from Galveston and he did just for me! What a sweetie! We had to make two trips with the trucksand i took us about three or four hours to move it all. My new helpers took down my backyard gazebo which took some time. It was sweltering out there but by that time I'd spent so many days in the heat I was getting kinda used to it. So at least I'm out of there now and making new happy memories in my new home.

It is astounding how rude and obnoxious people can be. Not to mention STUPID. I also blame their realtor for not preparing them. Having worked with them, the realtor should have had an idea what boorish idiots they were and should have anticipated this kind of disregard for instructions and agreements. Oh well. Now you can be even happier that you made it through and you are DONE with it.

Time to look where you're going, not where you've been. New Home, New man, New adventures await you! Enjoy! emoticon - Connie

Oh my gosh! What a mess! Those buyers must be idiots to think that a personal check would be accepted at a closing! Sorry you had to deal with these people, they are so RUDE! Giving you two days and then, going over that very night to change the locks! Can't believe that they had such total disregard for you and what you needed to do. I am guessing the photos are of the new place? Very pretty! Hope you manage to get everything moved. I know how hard that is, when I sold the house I had lived in for 22 years, I was shocked at all the "odds and ends" there were to be picked up and worked out! May God Bless you! emoticon
