Stress and a Trigger Food

Stress reared its ugly head and I tried to eat my way out of it! That is not what I intended, but that is what happened. Of course, eating that whole bag of candy only added to my stress! Maybe if I had decided to binge on celery that would have at least been a healthy choice, but I chose candy because I thought I could stop after eating after only a few pieces. Shoulda, coulda, woulda! I should have known better than to get out the WHOLE bag of candy when I was stressed out and not just a measured out portion. I could have put the bag back in the pantry out of sight and out of mind which works well when I'm being mindful of what I'm eating. I would have been okay if I had been having a preplanned measured out snack, and not just mindlessly eating something sweet to finish my meal and satisfy my sweet tooth, while working on the computer and not paying a bit of attention to what I was doing besides typing and thinking about my stressors.
Lessons learned? Deal with stress in other ways besides eating! Pre-plan! Avoid eating a trigger food during a time of stress. Eat at the table (not in front of the computer!) Eat mindfully (know what am I eating, why I'm eating it, paying attention to how much I'm eating!)
