Hey Spark friends,
I have a new car! New to me, anyway.
My husband and I have been sharing a vehicle for the past 8 years or so, and we managed to do it, though it was very inconvenient. But this past year, I have found it really hard to do. We left the house at 6:30 AM each day, as he starts work at 7:00 AM. I, on the other hand, start work at 9:00 AM, so I was there over 2 hours ahead of time. My day ends at 3:00 PM, whereas, Rick's ends at 3:30 PM, and by the time he picked me up, it would be about 45 minutes after my workday ended. I was getting exhausted, and had little energy when I finally got home.
My mom has been insisting that she wanted to buy me a car for the past year. She's 80, and she often said that she'd rather see me enjoy it now, than receive a small inheritance after her death. So, I began my search, and prayed for direction. I found an ad for a little 2005 Ford Focus, one owner, and only 37, 879 km. for $3,000. It said it was in excellent condition and well maintained. I waited two days to call, and felt sure it must be gone. To my surprise, I was the only caller. What? I know! Amazing, right? So we drove an hour and a half to go see it last night, and it's just like new. The gentleman that owned it was elderly, and could no longer drive. I took it for a test drive, and it felt and smelt like a new car. So, I offered $2,700, and he accepted.
So, I called my mom when we got home, and told her the news. She was thrilled! It was so, so generous of her.
We leave for our district convention today with our new car. I am looking forward to using it in service and to run errands. What a blessing it will be! I truly feel like I've been given a set of wings.
