Popcorn & a Movie

We have to make our change permanent, right? I know that quite well. I'm one who was a 'success story' - lost 30 (well, 29) pounds & kept it off for a year & competed in various running & triathlon events. But, then I gained back more than half of the weight! So, I still haven't quite figured out how to make this a new way of life.
Yesterday, my daughter & I went to see a movie. We love to see movies - and I 'have to' have popcorn while seeing a movie! It's one of my fondest memories from childhood. My mom would buy me, my sister & my brother tickets to the summer series. They were matinees and you could bring your own food! My mom would cook up a bunch of popcorn in this popper that was medal and you plugged in the wall. Then, she would pour it in a big brown paper bag from a grocery store. She'd shake it all up to coat it all with popcorn salt and send us on our way. It's a wonderful memory!
So, last night we went to a movie. And do you know how I handled it? I saved up some calories and then ate half a bag of a regular sized popcorn! Yes, I did! And, I actually still had plenty of calories left over for the day. As for drink - I drank a flavored water, though I'm not much of a drinker and barely touched it.
When we got home last night I saw I was still quite a bit short on both calcium & protein. So, I had a ham & cheese sandwich & half a glass of skim milk. For the day, I STILL could've eaten about 250 more calories!
I'm happy that I can PLAN for treats like this and not have to say "no" all the time.
