Trying Low-Carb again

Monday, June 24, 2013

I've been low-carbing for the past three days and have gone through the evenings with no cravings. I do exempt fruit and most vegetables. A banana, for example, will not drive me into Constant Craving. Nor will a little radish--white inside its red jacket.

I hope that this helps me. I have done it before and it is too easy to be derailed. I hope that my experience of the dreadful consequences of flirting with sugar or with white flour products will remain vivid in my memory next time I hear the Siren Song of Sugar. A slice of bread can be a gateway drug to a pint of ice-cream! I must mark this in my heart and remember it.

6 days low-carb!

It really helps a lot; but the Call of the Carb can be potent and mesmerizing! I have to think of it as a genuine battle.

WOOHOO! Good luck with your low carb diet. It sounds like something that truly works for you. Feeling better is the best medicine. I know that carbs are lurking everywhere though, but staying away from them is key.

I don't do low carb specifically but I have gone wheat/gluten free. I feel so much better when I follow the plan and don't do wheat products. Have fun!

BTW - I'm visiting the Venuses this week. Let's have fun together!

I eat lower carb because they make me feel so icky! Sleepy, muzzy headed, and downright lethargic. I have a small amount, potatoes at weekends, occasionally toast or a crusty roll, plus some in beer and veg. I do however avoid sugar like the plague. At all times. Dental treatment is expensive!

I have cut out sugar in EVERYTHING. Even it's counterparts. I have been doing this for 3 straight months + and I have not had ONE craving. I know it was sugar that was causing my eating really bad food, and since I waved to it and it got on the bus, I have been doing fine.

I also do lower carb. I do eat bread for breakfast and it seems not to bother me the rest of the day.

I do lower carb - allow myself healthy fruits, veggies, seeds, nuts, dairy, beans but not highly processed foods.

Bread's my problem. I saw a recipe for something called Oopsie bread that looked interesting and I thought I might try it. Good luck with your eating plan.

Mmmm. You had to mention ice cream! That's my deadly downfall! A selective memory is no help either. But that's me. You can do it!

Bananas are a carb junkie's best friend! They leave a satisfying weight in the belly like bread and pasta do. They are a little sweet like a dessert. They raise the blood sugar a little, but not enough to trigger a crash. (Unless you leave them on the counter until they are almost fermenting and then eat fifteen of them, I suppose. I trust this is not in your plans.) I use them almost like bread sometimes, spreading peanut butter on them, or placing almonds on little slices. If you get a lot of them on sale, you can blend them, pour them onto a baking sheet or dehydrator sheet and dehydrate them and use them like roll ups at various levels of dryness. I do this with other fruits or veggies added in them, depending on my plan for final use.

Love this line: A slice of bread can be a gateway drug to a pint of ice-cream!

Yay - maybe the more of us who lower our carbs and talk about how it is helping us, the easier it will be to stay with this lifestyle! I can't say my cravings are completely gone, but then this is just my second day of trying and I am eating quite a bit of fruit. I'm going to try to slowly reduce the amount of fruit and increase the amount of veggies in my plan. emoticon

I respond to simple carbs as you do -- More! More! More! It took years of being told that they do cruel things to us for me to recognize it in myself. I toast your for your renewed zeal and diligence.

I am working on lowering my carbs too. I eat 2-3 fruits a day. Most veggies. Occasional tortilla, rice, high fiber bread. I have diabetes and need to lose weight and get my blood sugar numbers down.

I liked your post. Hopeful and cheery. I hope I can stay on the low carb band wagon too.

    Best wishes in this endeavor.
I hope everything works for you just the way you need it to.

I'm trying to get back on track, too, after being gone for a little over two weeks for my grandson's birth. It is quite the challenge.

    Let's emoticon emoticon

    I'm cheering you on!
