P - Patience and Preparation

I have learned to be Patient and to Prepare to work hard at finding a program that models my food, water and fitness in a way that is sustainable to me FOREVER because that is what healthy, slender people do.

I don't want to be congratulated for losing the same 2, 5 or 10 lbs over and over again and I certainly don't want this to happen again....

There has been a lot involved in Preparing to be healthy for the rest of my life.

I needed to find the food that works for me - carbs, no carbs, high protein, paleo, vegetarian, vegan, fruitarian, pescaterian, Altkins, Scarsdale, Dukan, South Beach, gluten free etc., etc., - how many have you tried? What really works for you and keeps you satisfied?

Don't know? Then you need to keep Preparing for your healthy life by exploring your options and coming to some realistic and manageable conclusions.

Then after I decide what to eat, I need to track it religiously, drink all my water and work in my fitness. My cardio, strength, balance and flexibility all need a little attention from me on a regular basis.

And I don't forget to Spark.

I used to eat a small snack or nibble to avoid doing a task. It only delayed the task by 5 or 10 minutes at the cost of a LOT of extra calories. Now I Spark for 5 or 10 minutes when I need a break. It makes me feel good and is calorie free.

Fitting all this in seems like an impossible never ending process sometimes.

Kind of like the Myth of Sisyphus. You know, the one where Sisyphus is condemned by the gods to roll the same rock to the top of the hill every day, over and over again.

For me, the "rock" can be the repetitive nature of tracking food and working to keep it within my allotted "budget", drinking all my water everyday and getting my fitness numbers up in terms of both time and intensity, an seemingly impossible chore some days.

I'm sure you can imagine some of the whiny conversations I have with myself over the injustice of this life sentence.

But then I remember that I used to think that obesity was a life sentence for me also, and then I'm re-energized to pick up the "rock" of food, water and fitness and keep rolling it.

I believe it is possible for me to do this because there are loads of examples of people here at Spark who have succeeded.

I have chosen to relax and believe it is possible. And as I have been exercising my body, I have been exercising my super powers of "P - Patience and Preparation"

I'll post my "A - Appreciate" blog in just a day or two because there are only 13 days left until summer!
