Ever look at something everyday and then all of a sudden it is different? You never noticed those subtle changes happening everyday ... until all of a sudden you are like "when did that happen?"
Well, if you read #63, you know my silly struggles today with hitting the snooze instead of walking on the treadmill, the donuts in the kitchen, and ordering takeout for lunch.
So here's how it all played out. Yep, I slept in that extra 15 minutes, no walk on the treadmill in the early morning. Then those pesky donuts tempting me, I didn't cave on that one because if I did - I would have had a whole donut and maybe another later. You know that saying it is the first car of the train that kills you, not the caboose? Well that's me with the donuts..... so no first bite, and I am fine.
Then the lunch, well I passed. Walked my trail again. This time went in from the opposite end in the wetland portion. It starts out with this cute little bridge...
got on the path, which is a boardwalk over the wetlands, it barely floats above the swampy ground. In fact in sections when I stepped on a board the water oozed up over it! Occasionally there was a board placed over a section of the boardwalk to balance on and get to the other side of the water over the path. The sites were not a pretty as the other end of the path, cattails, dried plants leftover from last year, lots of muddy water.....
but I forged ahead. Part of me wished I had stayed and ordered that take out lunch with the rest of the girls.
I had a red winged blackbird dive bomb me trying to grab at my hair - I think it thought it was nesting material! This is the second time this has happened to me!!! Then I rounded a corner and heard something rustling in the cattails. I was sure it was the swamp ax murderer or something, and then I heard this hissing sound and a splash. I screamed and walked faster. Didn't see anything. Not sure what kind of critter that was, but I am sure I scared it as much as it scared me.
One foot in front of the other, quickly!!! Get me out of here! Why didn't I order lunch and sit in the office lunchroom with everyone else? and THEN I saw
this little sprig of wild roses. As I rounded the corner I was back to my old portion of the trail with the pretty wild flowers, the robins, finches and cardinals. It was all good.
Funny how a journey can be scary at times but if we continue on we find the beauty. Sort of like this journey...
Have a great weekend!!!
