The lawn...

Friday, June 07, 2013

My lawnmower stopped working last autumn, I had just some square meters left so I did not bother but put it away for winter, knowing that I would regret it come spring...

and so I did. Had it out and discovered that one of the wheels needed repair, took some days to master the energy to figure out how to unmount the wheel and take it to the city to be mended. During which time the grass grew... it is a rather robust garden tracto rso I know it can handle long grass. Yesterday I took it apart - not the motor, only the electrical system. DidnĀ“t find any brakes but checked it all and voila! when I tried it afterwards it worked! But when I shut it off after a while to move some stuff it was dead again. Repeated the procedure to take the cables apart and check and put together again... it started! This morning I have raked all the grass together because I will have to cut the grass once again, it gets very scruffy and uneven when it is too long... and then the mower does not work again. So I will have to have a professional look at it but I am sort of happy that I managed to fix the lawn... the hedge is left, it is also growing beyond salvation!

Remember the little garden I started in an old doorframe?
This is what it looks like today!

I do like your garden & the idea of using an old door frame the way you did.

I have a garden area about the same as yours. I have only tomato plants in it. This is the first year, in over twenty-five, that I have planted veggies, so I plan to pace myself until I get the hang of caring for a veggie garden again.

    God bless!

What a great garden, and how clever to use a door frame. Awesome.

What a great idea for an old door frame. I sounds like you got a lot accomplished. I am impressed by your mechanical skills, I would have just had someone else get it running for me.

What a great idea of using a doorframe! Might steal and reuse this idea!
I haven't planted anything this year yet, with the bad weather conditions we had.

You seem to be very mechanics-savvy! Good for you!

A testament to self-sufficiency! Watching others do such things, I have been persuaded that often taking something apart, cleaning all the contacts and putting it back together does the trick. It's like rebooting your computer as a first step.
