Walk Away the Pounds -- Walk and Jog

Tuesday, June 04, 2013

I have been doing Leslie Sansone's Walk Away the Pounds and love it. So I decided to try the Walk and Jog Power Series she released. I have lost almost 50 pounds ... I am invinsible. Right?

Well, I might be invinsible but I have lost my coordination skills.

If you have done the workout, you know she eases you into the jogging. I thought, "No problem." It wasn't. Not until she started the jogging and kicking. I can jog and kick but NOT at the same time.

I finally put Derby in her kennel so I didn't kill her. I nearly wiped out and caught the edge of the treadmill before I landed fully on the basement tile floor!

I think I need to stick to either walking or jogging. No fancy stuff!!

Have you tried the Walk and Jog?? Thoughts??

Happy wogging!

Coordination has never been my strong suit so I definitely can sympathize with you! So sometimes I get lost during the combat class I take. I'll be kicking with my left leg when everyone else is on the right side! Lol!!

I just keep on jogging and lift my knees a little higher. The kicking causes too much bouncing!

I can jog in place for quite a while, but when I try to jog outdoors I don't go anywhere! I doubt I could learn to jog and kick at the same time!

I would try it (gently) just to see but then again, I will try about anything once. About anything.... LOL

Great weight loss results! You must also be much more fit from all of that healthy activity.

Walk, jog, and kick.... on a treadmill? That sounds like a recipe for disaster. There's a part of the mind that continually controls our balance. The treadmill is a little squishy and will trow off the planted foot balance during the kick. Try adding the kick on a solid land walk / job session to see if your body does better. Once you get the body's muscle memory in place in your brain for the kick move, you can try to incorporate the kick back into the treadmill sessions.

Its awesome that you continue to raise the bar on your workouts. Keep us posted!

There wasn't much chance I was going to ever try jogging and kicking, and now I know for sure, there is absolutely no chance. My joints can't handle the impact and I like to keep it simple. It's hard to get a good work out when you break something because you're trying to keep up with a complicated exercise routine.

Of course, some people find it helps to occupy their mind, so they aren't just waiting for it to be over.

Some day, I will join a gym. I hope. Maybe, if I do, I'll even go. At the moment, I'm happy to be getting myself up and out the door and walking around a little, even if it's closer to "activity" than "exercise."

Please don't sacrifice your joints for your cardio! emoticon
