Every so often DH would see a bird nest/box on the ground. I am curious as to what type of bird prefers being on the ground rather then in a tree. Here in the desert, if the bird makes a nest close to the ground, it is in a well protected bush.

One of the back parking lots.

He came across a picnic area complete with pond and fountain. The employees get a hour lunch so maybe they drive out there to eat. Or company picnics.

Another area he found to take a walk/hike.

Another picnic area. Two Geese showed up.

What a show off

So that's why they are in the area. Another little pond.

DH walked a little further, then came across trees again. In the background are some of the buildings that belongs to the company.

That's it for now. Today we drove out to Elizabeth Lake, and watched the Helicopters fight the fire. I took a lot of pictures. I will probably do that blog in the afternoon. It is very warm here, but thank goodness the high winds died down.

Love seeing the photos. Wonderful about your DH's job! Hooray! I hope he gets a bit more time later. In the meantime that still leaves you guys time to drive around and take more pictures! Love the finches and Sarge and the roses.

Glad your winds have died down. Maybe they can get a handle on those fires before they threaten any thing/one else!!

Your photos bring back some of my good memories about New England when I lived there especially the geese and the beautiful pink flowers on the trees. In the Spring, they are just gorgeous! Thanks for sharing, my friend, and have an enjoyable day.

I had no idea that Rhode Island had such beautiful scenery! I guess there, the open areas where people can hike are protected? I know the last time we visited New Jersey, there were very few stretches of unpopulated land, and many of those areas were "designated farm areas" by the state, never to be built on. That is good, but sad that they had to do that!

So glad I live in Texas, with all the wide open spaces! I need the psychological freedom from the "cityscapes"! Cities, to me, are neither beautiful nor natural, but then, that is probably just me! Everyone likes something different!

Looking forward to seeing more of Rhode Island's photos, these were very pretty, Dennis has a good eye! emoticon

What a wonderful place they have to eat lunch or just walk around. The only bird I know of that nests on the ground is a Killdeer. Are there several??? emoticon

That's interesting that there were bird houses on the ground. I would think animals would get at them.
