"S - Support and be Supported"
Have you ever wanted to be a philanthropist? Have you ever wanted to have all the money in the world to make people happy and help them to see their dreams accomplished?
Well, here at Spark I feel like a supper wealthy philanthropist!
The only limit to my philanthropic "budget" is the time I eke out of my busy day.
I feel that the little things I do to support others; to encourage or brighten a day SO make a difference - right there and then for another person who I have never met and will most likely never meet.
I have grown to understand in that last year that as I support OTHER people, I'm supporting myself; even if I never hear back from that person...even if they start off strong and fade to a Spark Ghost.
Heck, I'll go a step further...even if I become a Spark Ghost, I feel like my blogs and message board posts are this fantastic time capsule of me speaking to whomever is out there two, three, four years from now. I know more than one Spark Ghost has spoken to me from the past and made a difference, as I stumble upon old teams and old pages.
I truly believe that we are all ALONE in this world...and yet we are all intimately connected.
Perhaps I should say....
"Even as I support others, I am being supported."
I don't need a return "thank you" or response although it is genuinely appreciated when it happens.
It is the actual act of going out there and passing out "Atta girls" and "Hugs" and "Well Done" and "Bravos" that feed me now. Joining and creating challenges, creating blogs, message board posts and notes of kindness fuel me. Tracking my food, fitness and water is second nature to me now due in large part to all of the people I "saw" around me succeeding.
In praising others for their accomplishments, I can self reflect and say to myself, "You do that now also, so... good for you!" or I can say to myself, "You need to look at what this person is doing. Maybe you can incorporate this into your routine."
Even those who struggle help me to evaluate the way I'm approaching things and make corrections that help re-energize me.
I've learned even if I have not reached my goals, I can and should be supporting others in reaching theirs. I learn so much from it!
I want to thank all of the people who reach their weight loss goals and still hang out here at Spark giving of themselves!! It always amazed me when I first came here, the number of successful people who still reached out on a regular basis to me and to many, many others....but now I think I understand! Even after I reach my goals, I hope to set more goals and to still stick around to see and support what others are doing.
Oh, and least I forget.... I want to thank "Spark Guy" for being the ultimate philanthropist, having given not only of his time, but his actual MONEY to allow me to reach out and...
Support and be Supported

Next week I'll talk about what "P - Prepare and be Patient" means to me.
Have a Sparky and Safe Memorial Day Weekend and remember...only 27 days to summer!
