I did it!

I have decided to run the Savannah Rock and Roll Marathon in Nov. I have also taken a leap of faith to join a cause that I am truly encouraged by - Team in Training for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).
One may ask why TNT? Well, let me tell you - in 2010 my then almost 2 year old neighbor, Brooke, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). As a parent this is not what you want to hear from a Dr. a few days before your daughters 2nd birthday.
Our families are close. I was out of town when I got the news and I sat on the phone crying. Why does this happen? I prayed.
Brooke was in the hospital and had a great team. She lost her hair but never her spunk - even thought she was miserable. In time they would find out that her sister, 5, (and my daughter's best friend) was a bone marrow match. They decided to go through with it. Although it is not a cure, Brooke has been cancer free almost 2 years. The fear of a relapse is always in the back of everyone's mind.
She inspires me. To be such a fighter at so young gives me strength.
I have recently met another young girl, Hailey, 5, who has Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL).
And, one of my BLC team mates was recently diagnosed with leukemia as well.
I wanted to do something - anything.
For these 3, I will run. After all, I have been given legs strong enough to do that. After all they have gone through and continue to go through it is the very least I can do.
