Just What The Doctor Ordered To Build Myself Confidence Up

Wednesday, April 24, 2013

Before I got tangled up with my errands I made sure I got myself to the park for a jog. I did the same course that we did on Saturday for the 5K. I was chanting to myself "I am a Runner" through the whole jog. Guess what I cut time off of my jog today. In fact I was able to jog longer before I had to walk to recover I made it to half mile point then walk for a minute then started up again until the mile I was able to do this to 1.5 mile mark. The last 1.6 miles was a little different I did a little more walking with 2 to 3 minutes to recover. Today I found a good pace for me to jog at. I really do think the 5K gave me a confidence boost that was much needed. I did feel so much more confident in my ability this morning then I ever had. 2 guys riding their bikes that i see all the time (even when I'm walking Tyson) told me I was looking good today. Yes they have seen me struggling to do my jogging in the pass few weeks.

Today's pace was 13 minutes 28 seconds 3.12 miles in 42 minutes today. emoticon Saturday it was 14 minutes 17 seconds.

It really does matter what tape recording you have playing inside your head. I changed mine from "no way can you jog" and "you will only look like a fool" those 2 records kept me from trying to see what I am capable of. I'm 52 years young and I am finally learning what I am made of. I've been wanting to try my hand at jogging for such a long time but never made the attempt due out of fear. I really thought people running would laugh at my pitiful attempt. Guess what no one laughed at me. Boy is there room for improvement but I am putting forth the effort in due time I will get better and be a real runner.

In my heart and my mind eyes I am a runner and no one can take that from me.

Anyone reading this and if you think you can't and are to afraid to try Just do it! It will feel GREAT! Yes you can If I can so can you. Remember everyone had their own starting point. It may not be pretty at first. Oh but the high you will be on once you do your first 5K

So I may not look like some beauty on the beach running

It's fun, isn't it? It's fun to get better, faster, more committed. I told myself last October that I was going to learn to love running, and I have to admit that I'm a little surprised that I haven't given up on myself yet. It's actually happening!!

I'm registered for the Color Run on Father's Day, and I plan to run the whole thing. AGH! That's my firmest, most measurable goal so far. Keep up the inspiration, Runner!

Yes, you sure are a runner! That is awesome to be able to do something like that!! Its not something I will ever be though, because just the impact of walking on a paved surface bothers my joints never mind running. I will be the best I can be at my gym pursuits on a springy dance floor I will Zumba with the best of them. You have to find what works for you.
    Keep up the great work!!

I love this Blog Linda!! a huge CONGRATS on the cutting time off your fastest time-Just amazing! I can totally relate to what you are saying. I always tell myself, it costs me nothing to encourage myself in my head, so I put those positive thoughts in my brain. How are we going to get there unless we try? emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
