I wrote a rather long missive to a fellow Sparker that I randomly stumbled upon this morning on one of my teams. She had left Spark for several years, gained weight and was looking for some support.
Oh dear....where I have heard that before....??
I re-read my post and decided that it bore repeating....to myself and to anyone who happens to randomly (or purposefully) stumble upon my page.
Disclaimer: In my posts, I sometimes throw out random lists of SP Friends that motivate me/move me/make me think etc. The list changes all the time, so if you are NOT on the list please don't be offended! If you are on the list...hope that is OK!
So, here is it, polished up a bit and dedicated to myself, my SP Friends who are struggling and anyone else who wants to data mine it for some bit of wisdom or Spark that might impact their future fabulous selves:

My plan: Track my food. Drink my water. Extra movement/fitness. Repeat. Everyday.
Control those numbers because you CAN control them. Ignore the scale. You probably ignored while you were NOT tracking, drinking and moving....try it for a while.
Don't have unrealistic expectations.
Plan to take at least 2 years to lose what you gained.
Listen to IOWL podcasts to figure out how to get your internal issues "in alignment" with your goals so that you don't start off like a rocket only dive head first into the nearest pizza when something goes amiss. There is a Team with free podcast links. We are a quiet team, there to support and be supported when needed - so no pressure. You can just lurk or join as you feel the urge.
Join other teams. Participate when you can. Read things on the Team Streams. So much wisdom to be had for FREE!!
And Spark, Spark, Spark.
Keep collecting Spark Friends like candy!! It is calorie free and they always give you something to "chew on"!!

No one "arrives" overnight!!
You can find motivation and inspiration from everyone here, even those that are struggling (because you know how they feel!!) Welcome new people, blog, join challenges, blog, be excited, blog. Oh, and did I mention...blog? You will want to look back at your transformation when you are encouraging others....
When the excitement wanes (it WILL!!) put down your pom poms and lurk in the background, (but don't leave and don't do too much damage) and wait for the tide to turn...pick up your oars and keep rowing.
You can do this!!

Sum total of what I not just LEARNED but have really put into PRACTICE for the last 35 days. Note that NONE of it has anything to do with scales, eating protein vs. carbs, cardio vs. strength.
All of those things are important in the context of what works for you, but secondary to the overall idea of MOTIVATION and what keeps us DOING those things.
The "magic" of this place is that no matter where you are in your life with your "tracking, water, fitness" you can find a Sparker out there who is just where you are at...and also one who is a little "further ahead" of you to look up to and to aspire to, model yourself after.
You can also find those that are a "little bit behind you" to motivate and encourage and say, "Hey, I was there.... now I'm here! Don't give up!"
And on that note...
I over did celebratory martinis and dinner last Friday or Saturday night while out out to dinner with my DH and DD. So "technically" speaking, I "broke my streak" of 99 days until summer tracking (and staying in) my nutritional ranges, drinking my water (do martini's count toward that total?) and getting in extra fitness.
Life was just too busy for me to post a "confessional" blog until now.
I had a fabulous, but bitter sweet time with my "baby girl" and my husband checking out the local Martini Bar near where my DD is going to college this fall. At 200+ lbs (last time I weighed myself) you would think that I could hold my liquor a little better...but they gave me quite a nice little buzz!
But you know what? Celebrations happen and those martinis were fabulous! And I'm going to keep with my "countdown" the way I have modeled it thus far. Days "down" and "days to go"
Why? Because that makes me feel better and it complies with all of the non-existent rules regarding streaks and streak tracking.
Where has the time gone?
