Wow! I did it! I made it through week5 day 3, which was a 20 minute run!
Today is 45 and breezy and overcast. Some would say it is cool, but I actually found it to be quite comfortable for running.
I was quite apprehensive about the 20 minutes, but I made it through. I did notice at about 16 that I was slowing down to nearly a crawl, and had to give myself a little pep talk to continue. But I didn't stop running along. I knew it would feel so good to write this and say 'I did it'.
Unfortunately I did feel a little wheezy afterwards, although I didn't use the inhaler. I did some research and it may be related to temperature -- colder temperatures are more likely to trigger a reaction. Running is a pretty tough challenge, known to cause a reaction. Especially if it is cold or the pollen count or pollution is high. However there are many successful asthmatic runners, including Olympic champion Jackie Joyner-Kersee.
