My Piano

Tuesday, March 26, 2013

I moved in 2010 my inherited piano was left behind and has since then caused a lot of brooding and bad conscienve, Last year the draw hook on my car was disqualified and I had to weld a nut on it to make it inusable - after changing car a motnh ag I have again started to plan how to move that piano... those plans included my horsetrailer that due to the late spring is still snowed in in my backyard. Now my former landlady called - her new boyfriend is moving in and so is his furniture which means thatthe piano is not wanted anymore... and she could help and the boyfriend had a plan... so I asked my brother and yesterday hi and me, my former landlady and the boyfriend moved that piano.

With the help of one of these it all went very smooth...incredible when you think about all the worry I have spent on trying to find a way to do this...

And now my piano is in place - finally! As it is built on an ironframe it has been very good in keeping the tuning right but this tie it sounds a little bit off key... I need to engage a pianotuner and - again incredible – I found one just 30 kilometres away. Now I need to ask what the cost is and start saving...

A stone has fallen from my chest! (I don´t know if that expression exists in english...)

I know it is wonderful to have a piano in the house. A great way to fight the blues and enjoy the power of music.

Yes, the expression translates well to English. "That's a load off my chest."

I'm so glad you finally have your piano back and maybe the tuner will not be very much money. Keep knocking those stones off your chest.

It's a weight off your shoulders, in English - as if you'd been carrying the responsibility of it (or at least the awareness of the responsibility) and now the weight is gone.

I'd quicker think from your description that a more accurate translation would be that a weight has been lifted from your heart: the piano means much more to you than a mere responsibility.

Great on the mover - and how wonderful that you've been able to have your piano back--!!!
