"In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on." -- Robert Frost

It is one of those days... Yesterday I did everything right. I was well within my calorie range. I spent 1 hour on the treadmill racking up over 16,000 steps for the day.

Then when I get on the scale this morning.. it has crept up 1.2 pounds. How can I not be discouraged? It makes me feel like it is a battle not worth fighting.

But then I put on a pair of pants and realize how loose they feel. So, I will go on. I know there will be days like this and even though it is very tempting to say no more, I quit, I know that I will go on. I want to continue to lose and reach my goal before we head off to Ireland in May.

I will continue to fight this battle!

Thanks everyone for the encouragement. I know the scale isn't the reliable indicator but it is the one we see the most. Today it was back down again, so it must have been water weight. I guess after doing so good all week I just expected to see it go down at least a little, not up!

The fit of the clothes usually is the better teller of the journey. :) Hugs!

I had a similar realization this week too. My weight loss is so miserably slow. When I look at the SP chart of how my weight loss should've gone, and how it actually has gone, the yoyoing gives me a headache.

But like you, my pants are all loose. I can buy shirts in the regular person's department. I took my measurements this week and unless I messed up remarkably on the measuring, I've lost several inches.

It was a sudden realization that the scale really isn't the only measure of our success, as much as it wants to be. As much as it thinks we should think it is.

So let's just keep on keeping on, shall we? emoticon

Just count the numbers that matter. Inches are way more reliable than the scale. Keep up the good work. emoticon

I agree with RedMountain! Your weight can fluctuate quite a bit day to day, so I wouldn't worry about it. It will come off again in no time!

    I can certainly relate!
It seems as though the less I weigh the slower the scale moves in the desired direction.

I need to remember that it all balances out in the long scheme of things.
    Calories in... Calories burned.

I know my weight can fluctuate from day to day, as much as 3 pounds. I figure it is water or even if I had a bowel movement or not yet. I have decided to only weigh myself once a week.

It can be discouraging to step on the scale sometimes. Water weight, maybe?
