Yesterday was my first day back at training for a 5k. I'm signed up for one on my birthday, which is about 6 weeks away. Then my friend Katy asked me to run one on St. Patty's Day.
You know, this weekend.
I went to the gym intending to just try and run a mile. Which I did. It was surprisingly easy. I decided I'd keep going and get 3K. Then I did that and figured "What the hell, lets try for the whole thing?"
The last half mile was brutal. But I did it. My first day of 5k training I ran 5k!
But I have to say, it kicked my butt. It was definitely mind over matter and now I'm feeling it big time. I'm headed to the gym in a few minutes, today just doing elliptical and some weights and abs. It's funny though, yesterday all I did was run but today I woke up feeling like I did weights and abs. My whole body hurts. But in a good way.
It's definitely making me feel motivated to keep training. I also told Katy I would do the 5k this weekend. Even if I end up walking a lot of it, I'll do it and it will be fun and I'll feel really good about myself for completing it.
The last two days I had a really bad headache, like not quite a migraine (or not like the one's I get sometimes) but still really bad. Because of it my sleep schedule is really messed up again (still). You might notice sleep is NOT on my list of goals for the next two weeks. That's because it stresses me out too much and I can't really do anything to change it. Sure, I'm making an effort to improve my sleep schedule but I think that if I focus on diet and exercise, my sleep will fall into line as well.
OK, hopefully my UP band is charged enough to get me through this afternoon. Time to work up a sweat!
