C25K - W1D1

They say that the first step is the hardest. That is my thought right now, as I have just completed Day 1 of the Couch to 5K program.

Mother Nature tried to derail me. I was thinking I wanted to do all my running outside. It is pouring rain today. Instead of bagging it (and it is supposed to rain tomorrow too) I decided that I needed a plan B. So Plan B is to run at the rec center when I can't run outside. I did this today, I used the indoor track there. The $5 cost will encourage me to run outside when I can.

I miscalculated how many cycles of walk/run there would be. Nice that the podcast takes care of the thinking for me. But I was able to run each of the cycles. The running motion didn't seem to strange.

I seemed to manage my air pretty well during the exercise. Afterwards I was a little wheezy, but not enough that I had to use my inhaler.

The shins hurt just a little bit now. I hope that is more of a newness of this exercise thing, and that it will not be a continual problem. Also some muscle soreness from the groin to the thigh. Apparently running uses some muscle there that I don't otherwise use too much.

Overall, I am proud that I completed the set today, and outsmarted the weather.

W1D3 done today (3/15). Today I ran from the office. I had a little problem because I forgot my earbuds, but I found some other ones. And off I went. It did seem to be a little easier today, so I guess I am progressing. I think I will be ready for week2 now. And I didnt need to use my inhaler today; and no exceptional soreness.

I used some toys today, so I have a few extra stats:
    Distance 2.11 miles (Garmin GPS)
    Time 31:06
    Moving Avg 4.1 mph
    4266 steps (fitbit)

W1D2 done today (3/13). I was able to run outside, and did so around my neighborhood. There were snowflakes in the air emoticon but I was warm enough with my new leggings, under armor shirt, and hoodie.

I did use my inhaler after the 8 running segments were over. Just wanted to breathe more comfortably.

I didn't plan well as I was running more of a loop than an out and back, so I ended up walking an extra 5 minutes or so at the end. But I don't think that is a bad thing.

The shins did not hurt as much today, but I did feel more tired overall.

I am not convinced that I will love running, but I am still learning too. And still proud of my attempts.
