They say that the first step is the hardest. That is my thought right now, as I have just completed Day 1 of the Couch to 5K program.
Mother Nature tried to derail me. I was thinking I wanted to do all my running outside. It is pouring rain today. Instead of bagging it (and it is supposed to rain tomorrow too) I decided that I needed a plan B. So Plan B is to run at the rec center when I can't run outside. I did this today, I used the indoor track there. The $5 cost will encourage me to run outside when I can.
I miscalculated how many cycles of walk/run there would be. Nice that the podcast takes care of the thinking for me. But I was able to run each of the cycles. The running motion didn't seem to strange.
I seemed to manage my air pretty well during the exercise. Afterwards I was a little wheezy, but not enough that I had to use my inhaler.
The shins hurt just a little bit now. I hope that is more of a newness of this exercise thing, and that it will not be a continual problem. Also some muscle soreness from the groin to the thigh. Apparently running uses some muscle there that I don't otherwise use too much.
Overall, I am proud that I completed the set today, and outsmarted the weather.
